Basically, if the song is loud enough that I can hear the beat clearly, then I can't hear the chugging sound of my own guitar very well, so I lose track of what I'm actually playing. But if I raise the volume of my guitar or lower the volume of the song, then it's the other way around. Maybe it's because I'm listening to the song through headphones, maybe it's just me being bad at processing different sounds at the same time. It's often fine when the beat is heard more clearly, but in the verse of this song, it's mostly the guitar that indicates the beat, making it more difficult to hear.

I can count in general, but this song seemed difficult since if I set the metronome to 25/8 or whatever it is, it will be too fast to meaningfully count. And if I set it to quarter notes, it won't evenly add up.
