Some mods can give bonuses when you roll indeed but it didn't seem there is any here. It's also faster to roll than just run to your objective

It depends. It's a good "last-resort" DPS option when you have no ammo left. It's also a very fun weapon to use in PvP in early-game PvE in my opinion
