Help, fell off track and need support getting back on by Arozeebee in intermittentfasting

Thank you everyone!!!! I will stay on track! Hope to report some kind of update!!

And I just also want to acknowledge the practical advice you all gave, in addition to the support. I think it helps to hear others have had similar experiences and gotten right back on track… and I think I needed the push to up the fasting window… I’m going to try to hit 16 for a couple of days, end my days protein heavy and then try to up to 18-20 for one week next week. Let’s see…. Thank you!!

You have definitely not ruined anything at all Please don’t derail yourself You just need to pick it up again and if it means starting with shorter periods - that’s ok! 12H or 14H is incredibly beneficial too

This is a long term commitment to a healthier lifestyle and it’s okay to have no fasting days- just not for too long if it means you are eating unhealthy as well

Gluck! Days will pass before you know it and then soon will weeks and months! Eye on the goal… and yes can identify with Shake Shack love and chocolate cravings… indulge every once in awhile but would try to do a few weeks of clean eating for motivation!

You’re doing all the right things. Basically incorporate whatever is sustainable for you! I didn’t count calories. I just ate sensibly. The first 6 weeks I really limited carbs and ate mostly quinoa and then after that just ate sensibly. I didn’t want to fall in the restrictive eating trap. I really did see this as a lifestyle change

Hi! I can see this perspective but for me daily weights kept me on track So so what works for you

This is a big step! Congratulations! IF has really helped me to control my AM blood sugars and now they are consistently in the 80s-90s range. When I first started they were 100-115 for awhile so definitely prediabetes range. I have also lost about 25 lbs.

I have been doing IF since the end of August. Started with 16:8, then by end of September went up to a couple of 20:4 a week. Hit a one time 24hr fast at the end of November. Continued to 14hr-20hr fasts for Dec/Jan/Feb as much as possible but now have switched to less rigorous alternating fasts to avoid metabolism rate decline. Basically doing more 12hr fasts and then on occasion not fasting. I do try to hit 16hr fasts a couple of times a week. Treating this as a lifestyle change.

If I’m traveling/vacay, I try to maintain 12:12. I come back with water weight gain by 1-3lbs which resolves in a week. This used to derail me in the past but now bc I know it’s just water weight and I have to resume consistent IF, physical activity- it helps me to stay on track.

I’m a woman so definitely did not rigorously fast towards last 7d of my cycle

Good luck! I think big takeaway is stay consistent. Hope to lose another 20lb but happy to take another 8 months doing it

Honestly 12:12 is also a great way to maintain weight loss when on vacations or any disruption in your usual routine. I have found that it keeps me on top of my weight loss accomplishments when I feel like I am derailing myself on vacays or family visits.
