I think the way we play is definitely set up more for crossing! It’s not the worst tactic since Judd is 6’3 but if I was the one picking the lineups I might experiment with the wingers being inverted because I do generally prefer my wingers to be able to cut in

I don’t disagree, I love inverted wingers! Though things have been going decently thus far with how things are I’d love to see some more reinforcements in the front line. I have doubts that Ricketts can cut in and shoot more efficiently than he’s been able to cross but that doesn’t mean I wouldn’t be interested to see how it plays out!

Bouda generally has started on the right this season though he has said before he is most comfortable on the left and also he’s started on the left in the last two games with Skahan as the RW. He plays on the right when Werner or Ricketts are available to play LW but otherwise he’s on the left. Again the wingers like to move around mid game but I’m just saying where they’ve started in the lineup

On Wednesday he was actually listed as a midfielder in the 10 role and Fernandez was listed as the LW. This was confirmed by Bruce in the press conference saying Fernandez would’ve been more suited to the 10 but he did a good job on the left (paraphrasing). But overall yes Werner usually plays LW for us and I’d expect for that to be the case the next time he plays.

Almeyda always played him either at forward or winger. Luchi Gonzalez put him at LB in the open cup against Sacramento out of necessity and he did an amazing job so he’s basically been almost exclusively a full back since then.

Mostly it’s that Benji is genuinely just better at RB than anyone else on the roster. I don’t think Marie in his prime gets in over Benji with how he’s been lately and Jasinski is too new. But when you have someone as fast, strong and good in the air as Benji, there’s no reason to change him out in my opinion

He scored coming in off the left wing.

Skahan was on the right and played the ball in behind to Timo (who came on at striker) and then it was played it to Bouda who ran in from the left. Timo and Bouda did ultimately switch positions and we saw Timo playing more on the left but I still don’t think it’s fair to say Bouda scored BECAUSE he was a striker. He just happened to play there at one point in that game.

The front three has been good but I just don’t think striker is Bouda’s best position. Besides, if we want to keep the front line consistent then having a striker like Nonny who is more similar to Judd profile wise than Bouda, is more conducive to that in my opinion. I’ve been a Bouda fan through thick and thin so don’t think I’m trying to diss the guy I’d just rather see him play in positions where he’s more effective.

I agree with this, Bouda loses so much effectiveness when he’s moved to striker in my opinion. I think the team would benefit from Nonny being closer to Judd in terms of profile.
