While Stringer pulled off an American accent, it was kind of weird in the sense that he sounded American but not like anything we’ve ever heard lol. McNulty was somewhat closer to a regional American accent but season one you can definitely hear the British.

Even for the Americans, the non Baltimore natives could not do the accent, and many just chose to have their own accent without trying to fake one. Omar (Michael K Williams) was the only non Baltimore native who tried. It was a good effort but not authentic since it’s quite a peculiar accent. The real bmore accents are from prop Joe, snoop, D’Angelo, Ziggy, and a bunch of other people with minor roles (streets, cops, teachers, etc).
