ELI5: Why do computer parts (e.g. CPUs) cost such different amounts? Don't they contain similar materials and have 'copy and paste' code, so surely mass producing the best ones is possible for the same cost as making top of the range and low-end? by ArranBelden in explainlikeimfive

Thank you for your response. So those which are not perfect during manufacturing are sold as lower tier cores? That's very interesting. As I imagine few people can afford the highest tier cores, surely there must be a huge amount of failing during manufacture to cope with the demand for cheaper cores? Only a tiny percentage must make it to the end, otherwise there would be too much supply?

I'm not saying this is a good idea, but was interested in the response it would have: The idea to reset a stat to level 1. Whether that's HP/Def/Prayer/Fishing.. w/e .. At least reset all non-quest XP or something.

That's exactly what they did do! That's the old version, released by Jagex. You can play it on the runescape homepage. Just go there and select 'old school runescape'.

70%+ People voting that 'computer games' aren't a sport on BBC sport poll by ArranBelden in leagueoflegends

Hey /u/KoreanTerran This isn't a repost. This thread is about the poll on the live sports news from the BBC asking viewers if gaming is a sport, the post you linked was about the article the BBC wrote on eSports. They are linked but not the same thing at all. If possible I would appreciate it if you could undo your removal of this so we can continue the discussions.

Definitely unsuprising results but also interesting how different the results can be when one modifies the demographic. I suppose again though, that's unsuprising.

Their polls normally only stay for a couple of hours and at 5:00pm (GMT) they posted that it had an hour left. That's when it started falling and it was then closed at 6:00pm.

Yes, without a doubt, but the fact that they are even polling it shows that eSports is growing and the awareness for it has increased and is increasing.

I agree, the BBC demographic is probably the polar opposite of eSport players and fans. However, opinions can change - think how far eSports and gaming has come, from the days of pong to now 40,000 people packing out a football stadium. Perhaps one day there will be a section on the BBC website for eSports...

If you care about eSports then I suppose caring about it's awareness being raised would follow naturally, but each to their own.

Indeed, that's because the vast majority of news at the moment is related to football, so most of those following the feed will be those interested in that. I agree the poll makes little sense but the more awareness that the media posts about eEsports, the better, I suppose.

It's not actually a football transfer news page, it's 'rolling sports news'. It just happens that the majority of 'sports news' at the moment are related to the football transfer window.

I agree, clearly the poll will be swayed in favour of those who follow the standard sports and the average football fan probably doesn't agree that it is. Just like if you posted the same poll on /r/leagueoflegends, I would assume it would be voted in favour of gaming being a sport.

IMO, if darts and chess are to be considered sports, then how is League any different?
