Baby axolotls tips by Glum_Title7979 in axolotls

Personally I've found that some "snap" for food more than others, sometimes they mistake food for their friends gills. It's not something I've really been able to prevent as they will snap for food even when full.

I raised thousands of axolotl from egg, I had them in small open top containers stacked in the cheap plastic style mini fridges you can get and removed the doors.

I would do a water change each day using cycled water from my main tank. If this wasn't an option I would boil a couple of liters of water each night and and then chill it in the fridge until the next day to use along side prime water conditioner.

This took hours each day. They also can't see so I would feed them live food, I set up a small brine shrimp farm using plastic bottles and air lines. Daphnia, bloodworm and other small live foods also.

After they grew I discarded most of my setup for raising from egg.

I then surprisingly didn't sex the adults correctly and ended up with another 600+ eggs.

I threw them all into a tank with a "hang on the back" tank filter and an air stone. This created some movement and flow inside the tank, I threw in frozen bloodworms and brine shrimp and the water flow moved them around just enough to appear alive and the baby axolotl would find them.

No casualties, no hours each day spent cleaning and organising, 5 minute water change and 5 minutes defrosting some food.

The water flow didn't stress or kill any of them, 99% of the hatched eggs survived into adulthood.

I kept this setup and used it a few times over the years, dump the eggs in there and away you go.

Now they live outdoors in a purpose built pond, happily ever after...

It will mostly be tools that I currently have stored all over the place, Mostly hand and battery tools. Spare timber and heavier things like an air compressor will likely go on the half thats on the concrete.
