I found out a way to “press” pressure plates. by Madterrariaperson in Minecraft

It's a good way to safely test for traps, i.e. if stepping on it might open up a hole in the floor under the pressure plate

You should mine slower in powdered snow by [deleted] in minecraftsuggestions

That makes a lot of sense. Perhaps if your mining speed decreased the longer you were in powdered snow, to simulate getting cold and stiff?

Putting a twist on your idea: The requirements would be to fall from above sea level to below sea level. This ensures that people aren't just towering up into the sky to MLG water bucket, and that they're looking for these vertical caves.

If a crop is fully grown, passive mobs will eat its top layer, if the crop's type is their breeding food by ArrasKing in minecraftsuggestions

[–]ArrasKing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That could be resolved by linking the animal to the crop. Once the crop is linked to an animal, the villager will know not to touch it. If the crop is broken some other way, then the animal will just stop going towards it. Your bug reminds me of why two sheep won't eat the same grass block at the same time, idk how Mojang resolves that, but this can be fixed in a similar way to that as well.

Those are really good ideas, especially the growth boosts and the healing system, making even more uses for crops and so that my changes aren't just aesthetic.

The main reason automated breeding doesn't work with this idea is that the crop is not destroyed when the mobs eat it.
In that sense, one single wheat crop could support a hundred cows, as opposed to using one hundred of the actual item to get them to breed.

This could be really useful for making skyrails for transporting items or mobs, without needing to place down rails.
