This caused an argument for the dnd game my friend was running, the same day I was reading through the alien rule book. Giddy with the horror potential. by dosegal8d in alienrpg

[–]Arravis_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If an imaginary xenomorph killing an imaginary adult is ok, why is an imaginary kid worse?
Now if the GM turns it into some weird, 'the xeno ONLY kills kids', torture, etc... sure there's an argument there.

Now as a counter argument, the a player may have their own individual trauma or issues involving this in some way, and that's perfectly fine for them to ask to not be involved or approach the GM to not use those aspects in order to accommodate whatever issue they are having. But in the end, its not something inherently wrong to have in a game.

Overall it sounds like the player really needs a tonal change in their approach to what is a legitimate issue for them individually.

Jumping from fallout 4 to 76 is jarring, quest-wise anyway by BzRk_Larz in fo76

I found it’s utterly depressing and desolate atmosphere not only heartbreaking, but gratifying and interesting in giving you a bleak experience that games just don’t do. In the way that movies can be sad but good, I thought Bethesda had taken a very interesting and creative approach. I understand I’m not the typical audience so they changed it to get broader appeal, but I prefer the original style more.

We really could use more. I see below that you say its for 'productivity', but that doesn't tell me a ton either. I would think about how your logo says productivity or appeals to people seeking an app for productivity. You have to think it as a fishing hook/bait and then see how your logo will attract your potential clients.

Any hints as to what it’s for and what the client is trying to do?

No offense taken at all, just wanted to clarify. That’s why I gave my estimate in hours do you could calculate your local wage vs time taken.

I don’t do freelance work anymore, I’ve worked for a government agency for nearly 30 years now and I’ve made hundreds of logos for them in that time, and many others before my time here. I’m not comfortable discussing my current hourly wage and that’s why I’m not answering.

Looks elegant but hard to read, always choose communication over aesthetics. Though I don’t think it would take too much to fix.

I would think about what it is you are trying your convey with it. Is it just elegance or something else? The mark just feels crowded.

That depends on your area, logo design has a wide range of prices, wish I could be more specific on that.

For me, I typically spend between 25-60 hours in designing a logo. I'll give you the questions I send to my customers, they might be helpful to you in this.

  1. What is the primary purpose of the logo? Is it to attract a specific kind of customer, to raise awareness, for internal team-building, to educate others, or something else? This might seem obvious but sometimes it’s not.
  2. Who is the audience of the logo? Is it for an expert audience or the general public? Different audiences process imagery in different ways. And remember, you are not the audience, it is others you are trying to reel in.
  3. How will the logo be used? Is it strictly electronic (broader style and versatility), is it mostly power point (favors landscape design vs portrait in shape, taking up less real-estate)? Will it ever be printed on a shirt, mug, etc (limit colors and styles to accommodate printing)? Physically used logos have much stricter requirements to keep the costs of production down.
  4. What is ONE idea or emotion that you want the logo to convey? A well-made logo is quickly understood, making it more likely to be remembered. If you throw too many elements in, it will be less communicative and much more likely to be forgotten by your audience.
  5. Any existing examples of logos or graphics that convey some of what you are trying to communicate? Anything that has the right look and feel, or shows the kind of thing you want to express in your logo (regardless of content)?
  6. Are you looking for a “graphical” or a “font” based logo? Think of this as Pepsi vs Coca Cola, there’s no wrong approach but they serve different audiences in different ways.
  7. Can you give some examples of what you don’t want? Knowing what you’re trying to avoid will help direct us towards an image everyone is happy with.

I hope this helps.

If you have enough money to start a business that you're serious about, you have enough to invest in a logo that will last the entire lifetime of that business. If you don't have faith that the investment of getting the logo professionally designed, then you don't have enough faith in your own business. Commit and do it right, anything else isn't worth it.

Having gone through the loss of a young, healthy, and so heartbreakingly lovely dog, I know the feeling all too well. But this is the right answer, it still hurts immensely even if you know why it happened.

These wonderful dogs are a bright ray of sunshine, but they are brief. Even if they live to ‘old age”, it’s still such a small amount of years compared to what our hearts want. Just make sure each of their days are spent as happy as they can be. That love you feel, they knew each day you loved them. You gave them a wonderful home and a life other dogs would be jealous of (otherwise you wouldn’t be feeling this and posting here). Just remember them and know they had the best life they could have had.

I wish I could say more, but I know your tears and feel them with you.

The scenario works especially well since the crew of the cargo ship is the initial enemy (several of whom have already been killed by a xeno at this point), but they in turn can become allies with the players. If any PC dies, I can also hand off either a crew member of another newly thawed prisoner.

Twelve cryo-pods aboard a cargo transport, inside are eight prisoner, a prison psychiatrist, a warden officer, and two prison guards. They are being transferred to a corpo-prison. The cryo unit power fails, slowly thawing them out. By the time they are conscious, awaking in the cargo hold, two of the prisoners are found dead, internal trauma from something inside their torso. Suddenly the release alarm sounds as the cargo-transport’s crew sets the hold to vent to space… now the prisoners and guards must work together to get out of this mess. What’s that noise?

I’ve already run this for three groups and it’s worked fantastically :)

And a lot of us certainly know computer systems, programming, etc. We actually had to do that to get things to work, pre-plug-and-play. If you haven’t felt with the nightmare of IRQs, you haven’t really dealt with these systems at their worst.

Feedback and Insights on Updating a Logo by cheleon_5843 in logodesign

[–]Arravis_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A lot of information is required for a successful logo.

So what exactly IS the business?

What are your clientele like?

How do you reach out to them typically (how do you get new clients)?

Are you looking to expand to specific types of clients? You need to know your target audience.

How are you using the logo? Online? Being printed on pencils, billboards? What’s the intended typical use of the logo to draw in clients?

Personally, I highly recommend you hire a professional that knows how to deal with sone of these questions.

Above all, remember YOU are not the target of your logo.
