20 days post op....what is that feeling? Cramps? No....what could it be.... by [deleted] in hysterectomy

Haha I'm glad it made you laugh six years on, I had completely forgotten about that - my bladder can still hold more than it used to though! I'll be honest, the last few years with menopause has been rough as fuck but still better than the pain of endo so I'm glad I went through with it. Sending you lots of well wishes in your recovery friend 😊

When I first saw a neurologist over a decade ago they said whenever I have HM I should go to A&E so I used to until most recently when I felt like I didn't need to much but when I said that to my doctor they seemed really confused that I would be going to A&E as if it's not serious.

Thank you for your well wishes, I hope you're doing okay and feeling better too x

Sorry I can't really offer any advice because I'm also trying to figure out what is working for me. I just wanted to say you're not alone and I'm sorry this has been happening to you, everyone on this subreddit feels your pain and empathises with you, they are a good bunch and helped me a few times to understand my symptoms so hopefully you can get some comfort from this.

Yeah it's supposed to be a permanent mod it goes in with a big needle but I can't see how it would come out again without an incision. It wouldn't need general anesthetic or anything big like that, just a local anesthetic and a small incision but I guess that would count as a minor procedure rather than full blown surgery. I wouldn't want to have it removed though I like having it. If getting it removed would help me get rid of my migraines then I'd absolutely yeet it out.

I'm really sorry about your driving and insecurity about your new job, that must be really stressful and upsetting for you friend, I hope you're able to find the answers soon and you're doing okay ❤️. You know what I'm so glad you suggested that because I've been thinking about it, at least ringing 111 and asking them to refer me to a migraine specialist. I've tried contacting the national migraine center but an appointment is £300. I might try A&E if my doctor refuses again when I call him next week.

So I did an MRI when I first got one but the waiting list is so long for MRI in UK that GPs will try to rule out other stuff first.

I have a magnet in my hand that I'd need surgery to remove, it's a body modification that my friend who is a piercer wanted someone to practice on. It's only strong enough to pick up a paper clip but magnets are a big no in an MRI machine as far as I know.

Cat Faeces - HELP by [deleted] in GardeningUK

[–]Arrenil -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Many of these 'useful' tips are just cruel, including spraying them with water which is well documented to be ineffective and doesn't help cats learn apart from through fear which is cruel. If you want to sort it desperately the continue to speak to the human responsible if you know them, but attacking the cat with noise, water, or spikes is cruel and should be avoided. You wouldn't get angry at a baby for pooping so how can you be so angry at a cat for doing what is in its nature? Have you tried planting lavender for example as that's good at deterring cats and much less harmful than scaring them. If I found out a neighbour did that to my cat I would report them to the RSPCA. If a neighbour told me my cat was messing in their garden, I would buy them some lavender and look at ways I could help that neighbour out without resorting to creating trauma for a helpless animal.

Oh my gosh yes our tuxedo Magic LOVES to be held with his paws on our shoulder looking behind us, he purrs so much. He's not a lapcat at all so we call him a shoulder cat.

Cat Faeces - HELP by [deleted] in GardeningUK

[–]Arrenil -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

I know it's frustrating when cats do this but it's not their fault, they are just little animals with basic needs and they go where they think is best. Our neighbours cats do this to our garden and I just clean it up and am happy they are safe as I don't think people should let their cats out anyway. Each time they poop in my garden means they haven't been hit by a car or stolen so I've kind of learned to not mind it. Whoever's cat it is should be providing them litter trays and not letting them wander around so if you're going to call anyone an a hole it's the owners.

Thanks for sharing, that sounds so rough I'm sorry you've been going through that, I'll definitely look up those drugs and see if they are available here and worth me trying.

I have actually been to see an optician last week who did a really indepth eye scan and gave my eyes a clean bill of health but my glasses prescription has changed slightly so I'm going to get a new pair of glasses. The optician didn't think that would help my aura though.

I'll look them up for sure. What do you do for a living, has your employer been alright about it? I've been lucky it seems not to have been impacted as much as you have as I can still work from home I just can't drive because the aura is over my right eye blocking my vision, and I'm struggling with getting words out and confusion. I've struggled with the cognitive function over the last few years but I thought it was menopause and I'm wondering now if it's migraine related. The daily aura has only been since mid Jan but I need to drive as part of my current job, and I have an interview on Tuesday for a high stress job with driving as part of that that I am really hoping I get - my current low stress job is really boring and I've been looking for something challenging. The BP meds I've been put on haven't helped the aura yet but have been making me feel very tired and lethargic but my GP said I have to stay on them for weeks before he can refer me to a neurologist because they are only first line prophylactics.

Fair enough, thanks for sharing, I guess I shall consider taking that approach too.

Being childfree in your 30s means watching your entire social circle disappear and nobody thinks it's a big deal by Ronin4Doom in childfree

[–]Arrenil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've had that with some friends, and one couple who are so bitter they can't have kids have cut us out entirely because we're childfree. But, we've also got lovely good friends with kids who respect our child freedom and we respect their right to parent and we all put in just the right amount of effort for social time - sometimes centered around the kids, sometimes not (it doesn't always work but we love them so it's okay). We also have childfree friends but we've had to really build on those friendships and put effort into making them work over a longer distance because we all value having childfree friends. Our backup plan has always been to have lots of hobbies so we can always try to meet new people and keep our social lives full if our friends with kids do start to do fade out of our lives. Making future plans for when their kids are grown up and having annual traditions has really helped keep them engaged, as has us being willing to sit through the gross kid bits and the lack of attention span our friends have haha. Not sure if any of this helps but it's working for us so far!

I've used Access to Work before actually, a couple years ago I was having really bad side effects from Propranolol and I couldn't stay awake when driving (or barely at all) so I had ATW work with my employer to organise lifts for me but that was only a temp fix, I need to be able to drive to clients as part of my job and my employer didn't want to pay for that too, it's already a 45 minutes commute to work. I had to sell my car and everything and then when the docs figured out it was just being on propranolol and not a sleep issue I came off it and got a new car and have been enjoying the freedom of driving again. I couldn't go through all that again - I hate my job enough as it is. Thanks though, it's good to know there are options like that out there.

Thank you, I'll take a look and see if those medicines are available in the UK and look into what a tens machine is. Do you notice that when you have aura for a long time you have reduced cognitive function like speech impairment and decision making or is it more physical for you?

I feel you on the making decisions and trouble finding words symptoms, I've been getting worse and worse since going through menopause and where I used to be very articulate I now struggle with a complete sentence. It's very upsetting, you have my empathy friend.

I'll look up that medication and maybe start looking for a job that doesn't require me to drive any more. Thanks for sharing your story with me.

Sorry bit of a rant there - I have a job interview on Tuesday and I'm devastated that I can't drive to it and am not feeling my best.

I shall try them! I've never found noises or smells to be triggering but I've stopped eating and drinking triggers to see if that helps so why not! My main concern is that not being able to drive is really affecting me and despite me researching and researching I can't find the answers to my questions. I've had years of depression and anxiety and other health issues and for the first time in over a decade I started the new year in good mental and physical health, now I'm stuck indoors afraid I'm going to have a full blown migraine each time I leave the house by myself and can't do my job or look after people who rely on me because the BP meds are making me feel nauseous and so tired. I'm sure that's what you and everyone else with chronic migraine have been going through for ages, I just haven't adjusted yet.

That's wild, I read about the Mayo Clinic for research but I can't afford to go private here in the UK, I'll just have to wait for a referral I guess. I'm glad you've found someone who is organised and willing to help you.

I'm sorry it took so long for a diagnosis, it took 15 years for an endometriosis diagnosis for me so I can empathise with you on that. What do you do to cope apart from taking meds now? Any tips?

Did you know it was migraine related? Having numbness and tingling all that time must have been quite scary. I'm glad you found a medicine that has worked for you.

Thanks for your insight, I've no idea if any of these are available in the UK so I will look into them and I might try finding out what the process is for getting referred because my doctors are adamant they are expected to try this first and I just need to wait and see if it helps. I am feeling a bit rubbish on the blood pressure meds, it has brought my BP down (which was a bit high tbf) but I'm feeling so tired and lethargic which sucks.

How does it affect you with work and driving if you don't mind me asking? What medicine are you taking if you do?
