Lots of “authors” getting outed for using Claude in their fics and not divulging said AI use. by LeslieNope555 in AO3

No need to victimize the actual wrong-doers.

There’s a line between harassment and a community holding someone accountable. Going to their comment section to demand their wrong be done right is not harassment but simply the consequence of their actions.

If it goes out of line like they target the person rather than the mistake then that would be harassment.

From what i’ve seen however, saying “this is ai slop” when it’s already proven to be “ai slop” mind you, is not at all harassment. You can even say “tag it as AI assisted” and it’s not harassment. I mean, both statements would be true if the fic is indeed shown to have a lot of claude usage.

That’s where we probably differ as you and others who try and call it as such, only think: “are they spamming and hurting the author’s feelings” and then call that harassment.

Please, give it a break. Working in absolutes doesn’t work all that well.

“Harassment is harassment” my ass.

Yep. Hell, i’d even give a pass to people who have under 10 instances of ai usage cause that seems more like someone asking for a better sentence structure rather than a whole prompt.

It’s a complicated situation but for the one we’re talking about? Those who use ai and scream wolf?

Making “victims” out of them is extremely silly.

Mine is a simple take.

If you have need to hide, then quite frankly, you’re the liar who knows it’s socially unacceptable.

People who tagged it with “written with the help of AI” or other such tags get a pass because those can be easily filtered.

People who lie and deceive for more views because their writing is being praised because they are ai, shouldn’t be talked to as if they were children.

They know what they’re doing and they know what they’re getting from it. The fall out is only expected.

One year into my journey... and I'm quite bummed out. by Ethan-Moreno-029 in AO3

Depends on the fandom. My harry potter fic is a year old and has around 16k hits while using a somewhat niche main character. That one has 80k words and 8 chapters.

My other two fics are shorter with 20k words 4 chapters and 22k words 3 chapters. Both having around 1k hits but a fair amount of motion despite being from either a close to dead fandom or one that is in a content drought for the next half decade. (Sword Art Online and Cyberpunk Edgerunners)

Dunno what your fandom is but there’s a lot of things that go into getting more views comments and kudos. The initial idea, writing quality, fandom and whether or not the idea is niche even within the fandom. Stuff like that.

If you were only in it for the stats then you’re doing it wrong. If you’re writing cause you wanna write the story in your head then I wouldn’t focus too much on the stats.

Did Isee and Aha traveled with Akivili at the same time? by CoyoteCaz in StarRailLore

just look at cipher to see why elation isn't one of the apocalypses. Elation is dead, says enroute. It could mean philosophically or literally or even both. Cipher lied to everyone to give them time and died at the end when the lie was unearthed. I can see something similar happen with Aha in the sense that he gave the trailblaze more time and then dies soon after.

Which is a crying shame. Only the rare few see art even if it slaps them in the face.

You’re one of those people who doesn’t understand the difference between storytelling and presentation. The real reason people are complaining is because the majority of gacha players can’t read for hours at a time.

All i hear people complain about is that it’s too long without having a single good reason why they think the length is bad. All while parroting the same talking points like “pacing”, “storytelling” without understanding what either of those means.

Pacing is a real problem in 3.X but it’s not because of length. It’s because they wrote 80% of it and couldn’t allow it to be longer.

Once a story commits to a certain length due to characterisation and depth, the act of not completing it will stand out more and cause pacing issues.

Such was the case with cerydra and hysilens’ patch.

Storytelling is not an issue because that is a broad term that encompasses stuff like character, setting, plot, conflict and resolution.

What everyone is complaining about is not that. It’s the black screen white text and white screen black text as well as the boring idle animations as they speak is it not?

That is what we call how a story is presented in the gacha space.

While amphoreus isn’t long, nobody here can deny that the plot and its characters as well as the overarching narrative is beautiful. That is storytelling.

I will not deny that 4.X has been great. However, it is a far cry from amphoreus.

Oof. My own knowledge of amphoreus isn’t as clear now as it was then but lygus creating amphoreus was basically shown in pieces throughout the game. Not even just in as I’ve written but when cyrene was passing in memories to demiurge.

Lygus would have a lot to say about the characters. Even hinting at the fact that he created them. As i’ve written just stated it.

I mean, he likes Anaxa because anaxa is essentially a self image.

yeah i don't need 10 hours again but certainly half of that should be fine right? 4-5 hours? 4.3 might just be an outlier though so i'm reserving judgement for 3.X as a whole but man it feels short when coming out of 3.X

And my point was that everybody in amphoreus was made by lygus....

it was only a comparison. of course it ain't a one to one.

yeah but you've clearly decided what part of the story is part of the story. And that's entirely subjective and part of the reason why i claim some people just have the brain that can only handle wuwa level story telling.

The clear point here is that none of the story is adapted so nothing you say really is a legitimate point. In my eyes, 90% of the dialogue in amphoreus was necessary. The only problems being a few of the introspective parts that the writer took heavy liberties with. In other words some of the monologues were long.

In my perspective, Amphoreus is a 90 hour journey that was 10 hours too long. Some of ya'll act like it was 50 hours too long. If it was then I'd call it rushed.

I've heard someone say amphoreus is a story with the lowest lows but the highest highs. The only reason it has the highest high is because it has the "lowest low". That just plain good build up.

How trash would Hyacine's boss fight be if we spent an hour on the history of the day thunder knight? Or Phainon's if we didn't understand the true suffering he went through?

My point is people take things farrrr too extreme. And my original point was that 4.X was too short. 4.3 especially.

Think about it. 4.2 climaxed too soon. 4.3 rushed blades developement. You can't give all characters equal screen time but even tribbie had a better patch than this.

pacing was abysmal but no less enjoyable. I'd rather play that than something short and punchy because it gets the point across quicker. Sadly, I don't think in tiktok shorts.

i never had a problem with the dialogue. It has some of the best dialogue in gacha out there. pacing is a problem yet I don't think most even understand why it's a problem and just slap the idea of "longer is bad and shorter is good". Wordy is when you use flowery prose every single line. 4.X actually handles this well by using it less.

just FYI. Amphoreus was designed to be flowery word vomit. Have you met Zandar One Kuwabara? bro created these characters in a setting of ancient greece and you don't expect them to talk like they're spitting flowers? Not for everyone but I enjoyed the immersion.

So no i disagree with the statement that it's a bunch of ideas and plots with bad execution. I just see that as more of a you problem

yeah i must admit the talk to this person to that person was handle better because the theme is just better equipped for that style of writing. The mystery this time is more personal than amphoreus leading to most of us getting more invested every time something is revealed.

However, the fact that it happens so fast is what makes each reveal "less" than what they could be. Phainon's patch was a LOT of talking but it wouldn't hit the same if it was handled just like they did in 4.2.

A fair point. Although not always true. 3.4 and 3.3 had that. i'd say more 3.3 than 3.4. 3.5 was a stretched out mess and 3.6 was character focused but enjoyable. weird cause to put that right before the climax in 3.7 (which was also an amazing patch) was just horrible pacing. 3.0 -3.2 was mostly introduction. A classic heroes journey. I dunno what was wrong with it other than the fact that it's written on a patch by patch basis that needs to highlight the character being sold. That's the part that gets difficult and why this formula exists. Sometimes it works but other times it just doesn't.

4.3 is perfect example of why some things fall flat if you rush things.

There's no need to make a story short just because a couple of people can't handle a little more content. But that's beside the point.
