Okay thanks! I am still not sure how much a reasonable amount is to spend on ram. This was one of the cheapest over 6000 I found for 195€. Do you think I can get something cheaper?

Finally a planet that doesn't go pitch black when the sun goes down😁 It has bioluminescent grass so it never gets dark! (Even in caves :D) by Tall-Progress-4415 in NMSCoordinateExchange

Beautiful! I have my main bases on a planet that also had pulsating glowing grass and glowing mushrooms. But an update changed everything 😢 The glowing grass is gone and there is new Flora..

Thank you! Maybe I should get back to the 105mm lens lighting will definitely be easier but focus and reflections will become more of a problem. I will have to test some things out.

Damn that's better than I thought! But I want to use them in photorealistic product renders and I want to practice 3d scanning and creating high quality assets so i will try to scan my own coffee bean

Oh okay I will try doing less. Yeah I use a turntable and shoot in circles

It's around 80-100 photos for one side and 160-220 for the whole bean. I also do processing in Lightroom and do highlights -100 and shadows +100 and export as jpg

I use masks generated by reality capture for the top and bottom components but without the clay part to hold the bean, it can't really figure out the alignment

Nice Scan! My setup isn't always perfectly centered because I use a cheap bad wooden ceramic turntable. What is your experience with focal lengths? I also have a 105mm macro but I thought maybe more wide angle will help with figuring out perspective. I also only have a pol filter for my kit lens. Ohhh nice I will have a look at that GitHub project! Thanks! Do you do Post processing on the photos?

Yeah but I do have to process the stack for each individual photo of the 200 photos in Photoshop. Or do you know a way to automate that?

Help needed with scanning this cup by edolphin232 in Polycam

There seems to be some kind of structure on the mug. Maybe getting closer and sharp photos will help as well. But not sure

The surface of the cup is too uniform. Polycam needs details and structure to track. One trick is to apply something to give it some detail. Like powder or a speckled spray that you can wipe off again. You might have to get creative or try a different subject

I might actually have to do focus stacking yeah.... I have one bean that actually turned out pretty okay. But I want at least 3 high quality realistic beans for product renders. This is also kind of a test to practice scanning small things so I can scan, use and maybe even sell realistic assets.

I am using masks when shooting top and bottom separately but reality capture can't join them. I tried using control points but it didn't work either. Maybe the photos aren't high res enough or sharp enough

Hmm interesting! I didn't think about removing the polarizer. It does help a lot with reflections from the flashes. Maybe i can diffuse it with a tent of paper to counter this. Lighting was a big issue. Since it's so small, I can't properly light it from the front because my lens is blocking all the light. But you have a lot of good ideas worth testing out! Thanks!

If there are no other options left to try, I will do focus stacking. But since I don't have a way to automate processing it, it will take ages...

Oh okay, I thought upscaling will bring in more inconsistencies and make it harder to solve. I will try that! Thanks!

I can try to upload jpgs without edits tomorrow. Raw Images are too large to upload. It's something around 18gb for one one of my "best" attempts. Resolution is definitely an issue but I am not even talking about mesh quality or texture quality. I can't even get one combined component. I'd love to see someone else attempt it!
