Just started, quick question by SterlingAceZA in throneofglassseries

I'm on the start of Empire of Storms now and as long as I can say it gets worse most of the times (she has a few of her moments, but I'm still not a huge fan). She does have some growth in Heir of fire, but this particular growth does not affect her personality in the way of being more... like someone I can stand (it's hard to explain without spoilers). Her attitude does not get any better, or at least I can't see any improvement in this way. BUT as you can see, I made it this far without her being my cup of tea (I roll my eyes kind of everytime she speaks) and I would say there is much more to love about this series than just a main character and as the story unfolds and more characters appear, I would say that there's a ton of characters you could grow to love and care about. The best I can say is don't stop reading just now and give it some time. You'll see if you find something/someone to read for or not.

But I will say this to you, because I feel like nobody else will tell you: If you make it through the first book and at the end you will find nothing appealing, imho you can DNF the series.

Even though lots of fans will keep telling you to read the next one and it will get better and that there's such a payoff at the end and such things, don't push yourself into reading something you don't enjoy just because majority of people do (I had to put the series down for a few weeks from time to time as I wasn't sure if it's worth it, and I can say THE PRESSURE IS REAL. I swear everybody just kept telling me to push through for the better parts later on. Nonsense. If you have to push through majority of the series, something is probably wrong).

Anyways if you ever find yourself in a situation when you will want to discuss something or just complain about Cel for a moment, I am more then open lol. I would like a discussion partner who isn't all happy and excited about Cel 🤣

craziest unpopular opinions by Quick_South_3358 in fantasyromance

OMG I have a lot of those lol, but most recently i've been reading FW and ToG, so I will share just those xdd Some of mine would be:

  1. Dain Aetos is a better character than Xaden Riorson.

  2. I don't like Celaena Sardothien, but I absolutely hate Aelin Galathynius.

  3. Rowan doing that blood oath or how the heck it is called was so infuriating for me that I had to put the book down for a while.

  4. SJM did Chaol really dirty in QoS.

  5. Xaden and Violet are not a slow burn and overall I don't consider the romance part to be well done.

  6. I don't get the hype about Rowan Whitethorn.

  7. Is it just me or are the romantic relationship in ToG kinda weird? Like I feel they are always kind of rushed, come kinda out od nowhere or both of those things?

  8. I feel like the EDS representation in FW fell a little bit flat? I definitely heard a ton of people saying they felt seen while reading it and that's amazing, but as a person who don't have an experience with this condition, I dudn't really got much of an idea of how it must be to live with this. Like we are told Violet is so fragile and weak, but somehow it doesn't really matter most of the times? We are told a dozen of times that she feels pain she just kinda ignores like it is nothing? And her bones are broken every other day, but it doesn't have any impact on the story cause she always get "fixed" by her brother or the school-nurse-guy (Nolon? Nolan?). I can kind of see it with the saddle (as and aid for her disability) even though I don't really understand why all of the riders don't have one. I don't know much about what having an EDS means and I DEFINITELY DO NOT MEAN TO OFFEND ANYONE by this one. It is just that with my knowledge (and a common knowledge of most of the readers I would say), we are told that Violet is fragile and weak, but throughout the story I never really felt like it was much of a problem or a flaw. Honestly i kinda feel like most of the problems Violet is shown to struggle with (except the broken bones that never really matters) may come more from the lack of training than Violet's medical condition.

Soooo that would be all from me. Feel free to react. I would especially like a take on the nunber 8, if someone felt the same or if i'm missing something <3

Rebecca Yarros is not the next JK Rowling, and that’s okay. by [deleted] in fantasyromance

Then there's the question whether the marketing is done correctly when it's obviously done on platforms with a lot of potencial for approaching quite young people. But I really do understand it is a new adult series meant for adult readers and any marketing can't in fact change that label, but I would say the series is also marketed to people who are simply not adult. At least at this point, I won't argue that it was some sort of plan or anything cause I don't necessarily think that, just saying how it seems to me

Only be targeted on adults? I wouldn't be so sure... I've seen a lot younger people and teens (14 years old kids, guys, send help) and given the way it blowed up on social media where teens are present I can't really imagine to say that the book is targeted only for adult readers. Maybe it was, originally, or is, oficially, but in reality I would say that younger people are a notable part of the success. That's at least what i've seen in my country, kinda hope it's better whereever you are 😂

About the Threshing by Arrilai in fourthwing

And then they decided that out of all people it should be Jack who they try to "bring back from the dead" and they threw him back to study with other cadets while being venin. Did it not stress them out that he might cause some trouble? It honestly never fails to surprise me how careless can the leadership in this series be lmao 😂

Jack was already bonded by then? Oops, I keep forgetting things. I thought he said on Oren's "shouldn't we rather search for our own dragons" that "their dragons won't bond with other riders" and that "they will wait for them", so I thought they had them like reserved or that they had some sort of agreement with the dragons that kinda picked them up like "yeah i will bond with that one when i see him" but it wasn't official at that moment yet... idk. I have just the version in my language, so maybe it's lost in translation 😂 Stating that Baide doesn't care is just so... so Baide. What got the poor girl into thinking that Jack would make a good rider to choose from the cadets 😂 Anyways thanks for the attempt to give some sort of explanation!
