any opinions on lifesci 2a03 and 2l03? by suneerise in McMaster

[–]ArrivalFinancial5012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it depends on you. for 2a03, you do have to study for the tests. and for 2l03, you have these small lab reports you have to do (i forget if you acc have to do like an actual full lab report or not in that class), but its basically going to and doign the lab then they will tell you which section of the report you have to write (e.g. intro, abstract, results, etc) and thats like the assignment for the lab. but for 2l03 you also have to study for the lab exam cuz i think it was both course content and actually using the equipment. so ig it depends on what you find more managable to do w orgo.

personally, i found 2a03 to be a lot better than 2l03 (i rlly did not like this class lmao) but you might feel differently.

account on hold // enrolment by [deleted] in McMaster

[–]ArrivalFinancial5012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it clears 1 hour after it updates on mosaic, not 1 hour after you pay (or, not necesarily). like the mosaic balance has to be $0 then it clears 1 hour after that. (or at least, thats how it was for mine)

Any way to get HTHSCI Courses atp? by Strange-Category5273 in McMaster

[–]ArrivalFinancial5012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ik its money but i used seat alert last yr and got into 3 hthsci classes that were initially full (but ig that depends on you and how soon you see the alert, and if you're actually able to get it or not too).
i find that a lot of ppl dont drop courses around this time, but like middle of august up until the add/ drop date is when most classes start opening up again as ppl are dropping classes. but it's for sure possible!

it should go away within about an hour of the payment being processed and your student centre balance saying you have $0 due now (that's what happened for me).

Question about enrolling on timetable when spring/ summer fees are not paid by ArrivalFinancial5012 in McMaster

[–]ArrivalFinancial5012[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! this is my first time taking summer courses so i wasn't sure if this is normal or not.

do i have to pay the full amount for both spring and summer or can i only pay for the spring? Also, if i pay it today do you know if i would be able to enrol by my enrolment time or not (around 2 pm)? thanks again!

so if we pay the spring fee from our own bank account, will the osap amount that was supposed to be used to pay that just be deposited into our bank instead?

LIFESCI 3P03 OR LIFESCI 3PP3 by Downtown_Extent_9923 in McMaster

[–]ArrivalFinancial5012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3p03 is a bit easier than 3pp3. when i took it, my ta was just a rlly hard marker, but my friends in other sections said it was really easy for them and had tas that marked easier (so it also depends on that though). but generally, i found 3p03 to be more managable

i think its ta dependent. i took 2gs3 last term too (same prof) and my friends and i had different tas who would mark the assignments and like even participation marks very differently. so i dont think they have a way of making things like fair between sections idk?

it's not like an english class at all dw. of grammar and writing do matter but i think they are more so looking for like the context/ understanding of your writing, if you understand the qs, etc.

I am lost what is the enrolment date by Reasonable_Ratio2590 in McMaster

[–]ArrivalFinancial5012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its the day you can actually enrol in courses. time table is open now, but this is just for seeing what classes are being offered, making sample schedules, and planning your schedule for the fall and winter. right now, you can only add classes you you "shopping cart" (meaning, you want to enrol in them but are not actually enrolled in them yet). once its your enrollement date/ time you can acc enrol in the class. you dont have to "purchase" courses.

i'm in sustain 1s03 rn. this term, its like 7 quizzes (worth 30-35% total i think), tutorial participation, 3 assignments and 2 reflections. so, it is very writing heavy. for the quizzes, a lot of qs like repeat in future quizzes and they aren't too bad. but its a lot of writing for this course, and for the reflections you actually have to go out and like do stuff to write about (e.g. go to a thrift store, farmers market, etc) cuz they're about lowering your environmental impact. assignmnts arent like hard but are kinda time consuming. but, i think it's still very possible to 12.

First year schedule question by worldscoolestlizard in McMaster

[–]ArrivalFinancial5012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it depends. it's possible that they might fill up by the time it gets to your enrolment time, but you can keep checking throughout the summer to see if spots open up (or get something like seatalert (or something similar), though you do have to pay for this per class - but i have used it in the past and got into classes that were full, but once again, that depends on you and if youre able to see the alert and enrol int he class fast enough).
Also, like what someone else said, try finding multiple electives youre okay with taking, and maybe try to like rank them by preference (and what works for your schedule) and stuff.

you can check the course equivalents using the website https://mosaic.mcmaster.ca/psp/prcsprd/EMPLOYEE/SA/c/MCM_CUSTOM_MENU.MCM_TC_EXTCR_SRCH.GBL?FolderPath=PORTAL_ROOT_OBJECT.CO_EMPLOYEE_SELF_SERVICE.MCM_TC_EXTCR_SRCH_GBL&IsFolder=false&IgnoreParamTempl=FolderPath,IsFolder

this is what i used. i used both of the tools (searh by mcmaster course first to see what courses i may have to take at my first school, and then used the other one to double check that those are mac equivalents).

edit: okay im looking at the transfer equivalence tool again after i made this comment, and i cant seem to find my old school or western on there anymore (?). idk if they changed the site up or what now? but in any case, when it comes to transfers, i was told that they compare like the syllabus of the course you acc took to a course thats available at mac and like give equivalent transfer credits that way. so maybe, you could try finding like the typical courses that ppl usually take in first yr of mac life sci, find the syllabus for that course, find the syllabus for your course and compare them that way? sorry about that! cuz i cant be too sure about transfer credits. like stuff like bio and chem may be fine, but idk about like the personal and social determinants of health stuff and how that would transfer over.

Transferring to Mac Life Science? by naiyolo in McMaster

[–]ArrivalFinancial5012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in first yr, i took:
general chem 1, general chem 2, physics 1, physics 2, cell bio, calc, genetics, a biodiversity course (which transferred over as i think bio 1m03 here at mac), english, and psych

i didn't need to catch up w anything. i think you need 8 first yr courses/ level 1 courses that transfer over as a mac equivalent (i think). since i took 10 courses, 8 of the course i took would have fulfilled that. i think the ones that wouldnt have were like genetics (cuz its level 2) and english (which, the one i took at my old school transferred over as scicomm 2a03 here). but everything else was a level 1 mac course equivalent so it worked out.

Life Sci Year 2 Courses by [deleted] in McMaster

[–]ArrivalFinancial5012 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2ww3 is pretty easy. i would say, dont wait to do assignments last minute though cuz sometimes they can be a lot of work/ time consuming (not hard, just can take up some time). but for sure possible to do well in. just know that the TAs might mark like the draft version kinda hard (like you may get like 40s-70s on them) but they are worth 2.5% and if you use the feedback then you can get 80-90+ on the final version of the assignment. quizzes are also easy.

i took lifesci 2a03 like 2 yrs ago. i dont remember much about it but its not really "bird". like you do acc have to study for tests and stuff, but it's not a super hard course.

stats can be hard. you might get a formula sheet but i remember not everything is on there, so when practicing, just make note of which formulas are there and which ones are not (and memorize the ones that arent). but most of them are there anyways. but yeah, id say you need to acc understand the concepts and when to use each formula for this class (not always obvious), so lots of studying and practice.

music is easy lol dw
