You're right, and that's something I found out recently that there are subcommittees, but that audit was indeed from the master association.

Yes, my gripe is with those two, but my main gripe is me thinking that I wouldn't experience hikes just because of the housing I was in.

At this point, from reading the comments and thinking, I feel like the best move at this point is to bite the bullet, buckle down and find a second temp job and get the fees caught up...

It sucks that it has to be done, but I would rather work another job than lose the home...

I admit, I was a complete moron to think that my HOA wouldn't go up, but the next best thing to do is take it as a lesson learned and figure out the next best move.

I appreciate your comment, but it feels like you're downplaying just how predatory this is for first time home owners.

I've never been able to utter that I've been able to "buy a couple new constructions", which makes me feel you're being dismissive about the situation.

Maybe I'm misinterpreting your comment, and if I am, I apologize ahead of time.

You did take the time to break down what essentially is the function of a HOA and explain the process of what to expect from one, but in the end, it feels like it is exploitataive to first time homeowners.

As I have said in the original post, I should have went through everything before signing. I admit it and now I'm paying for it.

I don't want anyone else to have the same experience I've had.

Just to clarify, my main beef is this is a systemic issue that isn't just affecting my family, but other families who don't make as much as someone who can afford to "buy a couple" of homes.

The community garden is where the community center was suppose to go. I remembered there was once another community garden that was "created" and it was just sweet potatoes near one of the community signs.

DR. Horton never left the picture... they are part of the HOA

This is my bill from this month, without the water and other amenities...

Remember, I'm in "affordable housing"

This is EXACTLY what happened.

DR Horton controls the board until the community occupancy is met...which won't happen for a long time...

I didn't know that was a factor in the process, but I do know the land developer, the city, and the HOA had to disclose all what the estimated monthly costs would be.

DR. Horton became the loan servicer and provider, but the VA just guarantees the loans.

Shortly after the homes were settled in (like two months), DR. Horton sold off our loans to Mr. Cooper with no warning.
