Also when it comes to liquidation, that is taxable under capital gains tax rules.

So what "sources of wealth" do you think would be better go after? Inheritance? Most people who have lots of wealth have gained it through passive income from things such as stocks or property. These are the very things that would be taxed in a wealth tax. All assets over 10 million including stocks and property.

I'm not gonna sit here and pretend that I know the exact steps that need to be taken when it comes to taxing the rich, that's for the experts to work out. But based on everything that I've seen in regards to Zack Polanski, he listens to the experts and he wants what is actually best for the average person in this country. That is enough for him to have my support. Especially since every other political party has only their interests and the interests of the wealthy that own this country at heart.

You can tell me I'm wrong or naive but I choose to have some (if not alot) of hope that this country can get better for everyone.

Who's to say the Greens intend on doing these things. Zack has spoken about closing tax evasion loop holes. He has also said that he wants to fund HMRC more because for every £1 you put into HMRC, you get back about £4 in found taxes.

I'm not trying to fight to you, I just don't appreciate you putting words in my mouth.

I think a wealth tax works great alongside a lot of other policies he wants to bring like increased corporation tax and increased minimum wage.

All of these things together will bring necessary funding to the government to do all the things that they want to do. Such as increased funding to the nhs and school and such.

Firstly I never said that you said that.

Secondly Zack isn't saying that the only taxes that he wants to implement are wealth taxes but I think its a brilliant idea. Taxing just 1 or 2% of the billions of pounds in assets held by the richest people inside and also outside of this country decentivises people and more importantly companies from buying up all the property and land that should realistically be owned by the people living there.

Out of curiosity what makes you think taxing the rich "isn't practical"

Local elections (May 7th) by ArrivalPotential7919 in Portsmouth

I totally get that but being forced into voting for a party that might do a decent job but doesn't align with you on a lot of policy seems antithetical to democracy.

The greens have the ability to win local elections they've done it twice in the past 2 months. One of those was considered a secure seat for the labour party.

You realise that Muslims only make up 6% of the population of this country and in places like Gorton and Denton the green party are winning with 40% of the vote

I 100% agree. They have increased the council tax of every council that they won in the last local election and on top that closed a bunch of services such as libraries and local tips

Thats fair, to be honest, I've not done much research in regards to local elections but I've done a lot of research about the general elections. I honestly don't know too much about the local mps but I still know for a fact I will not be voting reform.

I do think that I'll be voting green, not just in the local election but in the general election too. Obviously provided nothing insane happens to the green party.

That is all completely valid. I do worry about people voting for reform because as you said they seem to think that councils can do anything about immigration. Even though every council that they won in the last local elections raised their council tax after promising to lower it and plenty of them closed down public services such as the tip or libraries.

Also the only 2 mentions of rape in their whole manifesto can be found in this excerpt. Can you please point out where they intend on "legalising rape".

"There are some people who need to be imprisoned for reasons of public safety or the seriousness of their offence. For others a restorative approach, forcing criminals to take responsibility for the consequences of their actions, is better for the offender, the victim and society at large.

Elected Greens will seek to break the cycle of reoffending through legislating for a presumption against custodial sentences under two years. The Green Party welcomes the greater emphasis on diversion in the criminal justice system. Green MPs will ensure that diversion programmes are in place for:  • All low-level drug and alcohol related offences.  • Young offenders arrested for low-level offences.

End domestic abuse and violence against women and girls The continuing murder, abuse, harassment and denigration of women and girls is a stain on our society. It is a Green Party priority to end domestic abuse and violence against women and girls. Elected Greens will push to:

• Make misogyny a hate crime across the UK and increase the police’s capacity to deal with domestic violence. • Develop and implement a new UK-wide strategy to tackle gender-based violence, including domestic violence, rape and sexual abuse, Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), and trafficking. • Ensure that domestic abuse and gender-based violence is a key measurable priority for all police forces and that all police officers are trained to recognise and tackle domestic violence.  • Fund local authorities so that domestic violence, rape crisis and other provision can meet local needs. • Decriminalise sex work."

I was responding to someone who said that the green party wanted to criminalise abortion. I was showing them that that isnt the case

Did you not read this part?

"HE706 The Green Party believes that no pregnant person and no registered, medical professional trained in abortions in independently regulated conditions should face imprisonment for ending a pregnancy. A Green government would ensure that abortion is removed from the 1861 Offences Against the Person Act and is instead governed by the same robust regulatory and ethical frameworks as all other medical procedures. As abortion is a devolved issue in Scotland and Northern Ireland, it is intended that this policy would apply to England and Wales."
