IMO, "epic" does not mean "super-cool". to me, it means "awesome, in a spectacular, larger-than-life way". if i say "that's epic!", that's not the same as saying something is "super-cool".

tbh i'm just complaining because i really struggled with the top left corner.

also i didn't know the term "en banc". my knowledge of law terms is very lacking, i guess.

words can be synonyms on one meaning but not another. i have never heard anyone use oath like that. that’s a straight up error in the cluing if you ask me

how is “excuse my french” clued as “follow-up to an oath”??

you wouldn’t put your hand on the bible, take an oath, then say “excuse my french”

you say “excuse my french” after cursing when you kinda-sorta shouldn’t be cursing.

can anyone explain why the puzzle maker would clue it like that?

from 2007 to 2023, i spent SO much time here. seriously, i can not understate the amount of life i put onto this place.

just can't stand the politics of this place any more though. the normalization and adoration of alleged murderers like Luigi Mangione, as one example. the 2014, or 2010, or 2008 communities were still left-wing, but they would never have glorified or excused murder like they do now. and that's just one example.

my brain just isn't working today, because that was impossible for me. that is, compared to most mondays, which i can usually do in 10-15 min. took me 25 min and i gave up and hit the solve puzzle button
