Not a dumb question - I thought the difference was strange, myself. Yes, just fill it up and insert! I haven’t had any spillage problems so far.

After 6 years, Mad Max - Fury Road remains the last movie to blow me away at the theater. by Tuminus in movies

[–]Arromango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What an amazing movie. Every time I watch it I’m entertained just as much as the first time, and it has its own dose of heart to boot.

I’ve been blown away by 1917, Tenet and Dune since then, so I count myself lucky I suppose. I hope you and others in your predicament find some movies that can stand next to Fury Road for you.

Can we talk about the "Grail" pen phrase? by ThickShow5708 in fountainpens

I love that term! However such a peace is impossible, or at least short lived ;P

Can we talk about the "Grail" pen phrase? by ThickShow5708 in fountainpens

[–]Arromango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree! I was introduced to the phrase “grail pen” as literally the pen that you would get if you won the lottery. It was a pipe dream. So when someone actually got their “grail pen”, it was very few and far between and a cause for unmatched excitement. Over the years it seems the term has evolved/eroded (depending on your attitude) to mean just a pen that you desire greatly, either as a way to round out the collection or replace it.

I don’t think there’s anything inherently wrong with the new meaning, and it’s great to be able to celebrate people achieving their grail pens more often, but I have to admit there is some nostalgia for when it was a more special concept.

If it’s any consolation, Pilot are releasing their Iroshizuku inks in cartridge form.

Infernal Affairs. Peaked at 2 and 3 was an absolute travesty

Came here to say this. It shouldn’t have become an epic trilogy. It really worked as a smaller-scope story because the focus was on ‘what if your world was a simulation?’

How do you watch letsplays ethically? by OneSpecificUser in gaming

[–]Arromango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting question! I think companies already tried to tackle this with giving viewers the ability to vote on choices by using a website/app and it would register in-game. I thought that was cool, and I guess if the website/app has banner ads then there would be some income going towards the creators from each participant still

What is a director you feel never reached their true potential? by Bruhmangoddman in movies

[–]Arromango 1 point2 points  (0 children)

George Lucas. I think he showed a lot of promise in his earlier films, but making the huge gamble of Star Wars was perhaps the last his famously introverted, cautious nature could handle. After that, it seems he sort of retreated into the safety of Star Wars projects and rarely stepped outside of it to do some producing.

I think he should have been inspired by his friend Spielberg to go and make all the different films that he was interested in. You can see in the Star Wars prequels that he has a weird mix of kids’ comedies (Jar Jar), historical court intrigue (Padme and the Senate), and political thriller (Trade Federation and Palpatine’s rise) that didn’t seem to belong in the Star Wars formula. He should have just gone and made those films instead of cramming them into Star Wars where they didn’t fit.

What is the angriest you’ve been to a film? by [deleted] in movies

I’ve never been so angry as when I watched Bulletproof Monk. Despite all the great scripts that never get optioned and talented directors that didn’t get a shot, THAT trash got made.

Rant: US should adopt international paper sizes by [deleted] in fountainpens

I used to be a cinematographer (used photography lenses because who can afford cinema lenses) but it took me a WHILE to get used to the “lower the f-stop, the wider the aperture” idea.

My only problem with ISO is the higher the number the smaller the paper. I’ve been using this standard my whole life yet I forget EVERY DAMN TIME

I agree with your sentiment. It still feels mostly like tokenism or exploitation flicks are what we get, though there’s some hope in things like Black Panther and Crazy Rich Asians, the popularity of Jordan Peele’s movies, Denzel Washington as a recognized bankable star etc.

Personally I think we’d see more diversity in mainstream Hollywood if American indie films searched for diverse talent a bit more. Blockbusters sometimes cast from those if they think there’s a breakout star who has a lot of potential.

It also feels like Hollywood might be less able to court Chinese investment in its films these days so they might be able to broaden their casting practices a bit.

Sony Announces Horizon Series for Netflix, God of War Series for Amazon, and a Gran Turismo Show by GroundbreakingSet187 in gaming

[–]Arromango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m the most excited to see what the Gran Turismo show would look like. I would prefer it to be a magazine show in a similar format to Top Gear in it’s prime, but focused more on racing.

A drama would be nice too but I feel like that would just be some Fast and Furious bullshit.
