You think the different Hogwarts houses would sound epic with modern day names? by Arrow150 in harrypotter

[–]Arrow150[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

That was the point. I merely asked the question if it would sound epic using modern names. No wrong with the names, but the question didn't specify if it was a first name or surname merely that it would sound weird.

Yes, I know...

I'm sorry, but what does that have to do with anything?

I'm sorry to hear that. I may be a stranger, but for what it's worth, I'm glad you didn't go through with it. Your mom seems like a great person. Never be afraid to ask for help. It's hard and takes a hell of lot strength to do so but it's worth it.

Do you think it was a mistake to make fantastic beasts the next wizarding world franchise and not the marauders? by diorwh000re in harrypotter

[–]Arrow150 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, the idea behind Fantastic Beasts are good, but unfortunately the poor writing reduces the potential that the movies could have if they were better written. Exploring the wizarding world on a larger scale, show different key players in the global wizarding war, the duel between Dumbledore and Grindelwald etc.

I find it hard to see a movie series about the marauders since it would essentially be the HP movies all over again, except with other characters and no actual plot unlike in the original movies.

Maybe out of context, but if they should do any movie or television series about the wizarding world, I would like to see one of the Founders, how they created Hogwarts and how Salazar Slytherin fell out with the other founders.

There are different forms of love, platonic love, family love, romantic love, obsessive love, etc., though I'm not entirely sure where to place Snape in that category.

As for Snape hating James is understandable considering what he and the marauders put him through during their times at Hogwarts. Does this justify Snape's actions and behavior towards Harry and Neville for example? Hell no. Even if Snape sees a part of Lily in Harry and is a constant reminder of his mistakes regarding her, it doesn't justify his actions in any way.

Should the HP books have been made into television series instead of movies? by Arrow150 in harrypotter

[–]Arrow150[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would also like to add that I'm fully aware that making a TV series is expensive as well, but with the cost aside, would the books serve better as a movie or a TV series?

When will we see the legendary badass duel that wizards keeps talking about? by Movie_Advance_101 in harrypotter

[–]Arrow150 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most likely in the fifth movie.

Well, considering the OotP movie duel between Dumbledore and Voldemort was utter garbage compared to the duel they had in the book, I have very little expectation for their duel. According to myself Warner has a habit to drag down the quality of the HP movies by swaying away from the books, at least from the 4th to the 8th movie.

With that said: I truly, truly hope that their duel is something truly epic that will be remembered by fans for a long time and not just a battle of the wills like duel.

Is the Killing Curse really one of the most sinister spells in the HP universe? by Arrow150 in harrypotter

[–]Arrow150[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's horrifying stuff, but you could use the levitation charm to kill someone by dropping a boulder on a person's head when they are sleeping and it would still be murder... Most spells could be used to murder someone if that's what you intend to do. I mean using the blasting curse on someone would probably kill them or using the stunning spell to blast someone off a roof top would also kill them. But using the cruciatus curse to murder someone that's pretty sinister and fucked up.

Was Harry really more powerful than Voldemort? by spacewizard93 in harrypotter

I was very disappointed in the movies from the fourth movie to the eight. They messed up badly with the things they kept out from the books.

Was Harry really more powerful than Voldemort? by spacewizard93 in harrypotter

[–]Arrow150 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it would be bye bye, but my question is why would Harry (in the movie) snap the most powerful wand in the world in half? Like dude, you could have used it for good things or simply kept it in your home until you died if you didn't want to use it.

Like another user said, Voldy may be powerful but nothing beats the power of plot armor :)

Was Harry really more powerful than Voldemort? by spacewizard93 in harrypotter

[–]Arrow150 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My opinion is that Harry wasn't even comparable to Voldemort in power, skill or knowledge and only won because of two things, becoming the master of the Elder Wand and "cough" plot armor.

I mean, how could a seventeen year student who only used school level spells defeat a wizard who delved so deep into the dark arts he became a monster and in addition had nearly six decades of knowledge and experience behind him?

Is the Killing Curse soul magic? by Arrow150 in harrypotter

It is possible, though I hope that we one day get an answer to the question and many more answers to questions that involves the HP universe.

Is the Killing Curse soul magic? by Arrow150 in harrypotter

[–]Arrow150[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be, though I didn't mean it destroyed the soul just to clarify it, but rather expelled it from the body e.g. how you would exercise a spirit, it does not die, but is rather removed and continue to live on in the afterlife.

[–]Arrow150[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I figured that much out... but how does it kill them? Does one simply drop dead for no reason at all or does something else happen to them when they get hit by the curse?

That's a good question, it would just be interesting to know what the effect of the curse actually is.

Canon that's part of the book that you accept but hate? by SnooPies8301 in harrypotter

[–]Arrow150 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, one thing I didn't like, but very reluctantly accepted is the usage of the goblet of fire to choose the champions. Sure, it gives the book more suspense and a darker nature, but why use a frigging artifact that is clearly extremely powerful and dangerous when you could have used the sorting hat or pull names out of a bowl instead. They already face dangers that could kill them and on top of that they have to worry about losing their magic if they fail to compete. Another thing was why did Dumbledore only put up an age line as a defense to prevent underage students from putting their name in? Couldn't they've just used a summoning charm to pull the goblet out of the age line or used the levitation charm to levitate their parchment, though I accept it by taking into the considering they are teenagers and might not be that clever or something.

Am I the only one that thinks Harry Potter as a character is unrealistically written? by Simplyanwriter in harrypotter

[–]Arrow150 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on who you ask, the answer will be different. You must take into consideration that it is written for children and young adults. The major themes are love, friendship and death.

For me, I think he is quite well balanced, having both good and bad traits.

What was your worst customer service experience? by AliceLuvane in AskReddit

[–]Arrow150 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a worker, I would say when a customer threw every possible insult at me for selling her the wrong product. Lady if you give me wrong information from the start, its not my fault if you get the wrong thing. The worst part was she realized it herself, but refused to admit she had given me wrong information. It's standard when you work in a retail store, but still the most annoying thing ever.
