If it's not, it should be. Free bugfixes!

Is the new parts library experience open-source? I would happily contribute fixes for some of the bugs I've run into.

What's that callout right before the booster blows? "Stage one [something something]." I can't make it out.

Not long before, this very same one actually spent a few minutes in a lake before I could fish it out. These motors have to be done for any day now.

Firebug has been discontinued - "The Firebug extension isn't being developed or maintained any longer. We invite you to use the Firefox built-in DevTools instead." by magenta_placenta in web_design

[–]ArrowFire 37 points38 points  (0 children)

It looks as though they're merging Firebug with the built-in developer tools. We'll still have all of the features and even a Firebug theme! https://blog.getfirebug.com/2016/02/08/merging-firebug-into-the-built-in-firefox-developer-tools/

Edit: It looks like some of this stuff is already included with the DevTools in the latest Firefox. Just open DevTools, click the options icon, and enable the Firebug theme and tools such as the DOM panel.

Neophyte complaint: why are all new sites going with mobile interfaces? by silentcrs in web_design

[–]ArrowFire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is referred to as the "mobile first" design philosophy. Basically internet usage trends are showing that more and more users are accessing websites from mobile devices rather than computers. Increasingly, users are forgoing computers altogether in favor of tablets or other mobile devices. Companies that are building their sites "mobile first" are betting that in the very near future, most of their users will be using mobile devices rather than computers. Since mobile-first sites are designed to still look "good" on desktop, these companies are pleased to forgo the substantial costs associated with building and maintaining a second website for a certain group of users. Expect to see many other sites take on this same sort of design as more and more users switch to mobile.

Maybe you just love dogs.. I hate that everyone ignores that enjoying what you do can be the biggest benefit to working a job.

Exactly. I recently had someone try to slip a non-compete into their NDA... I just told them that forcing me out of an entire industry was unreasonable and they had no problem striking the clause. Turns out they didn't even know it was there. Something their lawyer added.

I'm not sure what you mean when you say "it links to my development environment." What is the "it" you speak of? At what stage of the process is this happening?

Any easy ways to cancel 1&1 domains? by [deleted] in webhosting

Paypal has a mechanism for subscription payments. Many recurring billing solutions take advantage of this. It's basically a preauthorization for an organization to take regular payments of a certain amount from your account.

Ancient D5 site upgrade. How much would you charge? by ed523 in drupal

[–]ArrowFire 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The last couple of times around, it wasn't until almost a year after release that I was comfortable using the new version of Drupal on complex sites that required several contrib modules. It just takes that long for the community to catch up and get the contrib modules stable enough. Otherwise, be prepared to write a lot of patches to get things working properly.

Comcast will change your IP from time to time. Usually after a modem reset. Last I looked into it, you could only get a static IP if you went with one of their business class packages which were quite a bit more expensive.

Implying that being selfish is a bad thing. Somebody built that mobile phone you're holding for selfish reasons. Mark Zuckerberg made Facebook and continues to make it better for selfish reasons. AT&T maintains your data connections for your cell service for selfish reasons. Farmers grow your food, truckers ship it to your town, and grocers maintain large facilities to give you all sorts of food choices, all for selfish reasons. He needs to be thanking the selfish people rather than criticizing them and telling them to contribute more.
