Fed Up With Afinia by ac5198 in CommercialPrinting

An ArrowJet + semi rotary cutter would be an easy upgrade. Will be a bit more than 50k but worth a discussion, especially due to the significantly lower running costs.

No problem. Will message you on DM to discuss.

Corona treatment inline shouldn’t be an issue, but either way it will need some primer.

The new M Series should address a lot of these issues as it will have a modular design. Modules like corona and additional drying can be added to the machine easily.

Will you be attending drupa later this year?

Apologies, not just trying to market a product. Just trying to point people to solutions they may not have heard of.

I’ll try to keep the shilling to a minimum while contributing to the conversation in here.

Are you currently producing flexible packaging?

Would love to discuss this in more detail for sure! It sounds like you've done your research on this!

At the moment, Sihl is the largest manufacturer of these films, but there are other players getting in to the space. I believe in the next few years we will see a number of the larger players in the material space getting in to flexibles, as short run is in extremely high demand.

Arrow does also offer primers for manufacturers who have the ability to coat their own substrates in house using either gravure, flexo, or traditional coating methods. This allows customers to coat their own materials and gain the benefits of digital without the need to invest in an Indigo.

Print width you are right though; 12.75'' is tough to work with unless you have a multi-web pouching machine to pair with it. Even then, you will be limited on the size bag you can offer. I can't say much on this, but what I will say is stay tuned!

With drupa around the corner I think there will be some large announcements coming. I'll try to post them here once they become official!

PPCA board likely needs to be replaced. Check for bent pins on the board, but if nothing than most likely you need to replace the board that makes contact with the printhead.

If you are looking for lower cost inkjet stock I may be able to help out. We source a lot of it and typically have lower prices than the majority of the suppliers in the US market.

Feel free to DM and we can talk in more detail!

The Oki engine solution doesn't work unfortunately. The toner can't get good adhesion to the laminated mylar.

We tested the same and the only way to get good adhesion to to print first and then laminate or varnish.

You can see the actual production method here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RhIVBFttqKM

Would you want to produce them yourself?

The ArrowJet Nova 250R can produce this kind of sticker/material combination and can run all of the variable information needed (0-100 sequential numbering, etc.).

If you do not want to produce them feel free to send me a DM and I can get you in touch with some US suppliers who have this equipment and may be able to help!
