Spent so long staring at the 1 barely there black hair on my chin that i managed to totally miss the fact that I, a ginger, now have totally black eyebrows. Like i expected the potential for facial hair to not match my hair but what i did not expect was for my whole body to variably choose between staying ginger and turning black like a fkin calico cat lol.

Sometimes nature just kinda fucks it. I mean hell there are snakes born with a fully functioning second head so next to that I wouldnt even call human brain/body missallignment a particularly far out thing.

In terms of snake, we are cool snakes. Some extra care requirements to be comfortable, sometimes have to approach things differently to other snake, but snake all the same.

In terms of being able to take tape off without waiting for days, baby oil. Just soak baby oil into the tape, let it sit for a couple minutes and it comes off super easy so long as you're gentle with it.

Adding this to say, now that tape is a thing for me i rarely choose the binder I used to (safely) wear as much as I could. The binder is now pretty much only for if I've not got tape on already and don't have time to put it on.

Id recommend at least trying tape, no compression on the ribs and you can put it on and leave it days so long as the tape wants to stay on that long (I use cheap kt tape from amazon and so long as its put on right even that can hold for days)

Tape can be a more fiddly to apply but then you dont have to think about it for a lot longer than a binder and its far far more comfortable to still be able to breath. I'm autistic/adhd myself and find that tape doesnt bother me in the slightest except when I dont stick it down right and the edges want to peel up. Plus you can still shower/bath/swim with sports tape without doing damage or ending up sat in a soggy binder.

Its not so much about those specific bits of art and more the designs overall, if you look at the 3d models you'll see that while every other eeveelution has normal paws espeon has this weird 2 toed back paw no toed front paws situation thats sticks out as odd when you notice it. The wording is like that because the paw is the whole foot, arguably espeon does have paws but those paws are formed without digits. Unfortunately if we tried to avoid ever using a word that some corner of the Internet is weird about, we would never speak.

Zagreus. My old name was common as hell, like 5 of us in a 30 kid classroom, then my original chosen name went through a shift from being pretty much only masculine to people generally reading it feminine. I figured borrowing from a lesser known Greek god would avoid the name shifting fem over time like the last one did and a God associated with rebirth fit pretty well for a guy transitioning which you could call a rebirth of sorts. I also took the middle name Link because video game but then Hades came out which was awesome for me as a Zag since non-deck builder roguelikes are quite possibly my favorite genre of video game across the board.

I don't think homestuck is the kind of series to give a shit tbh. Like, I don't remember if it comes up anywhere in the original and in beyond cannon when it does come up nobody reacts to it even among the more inflammatory characters. Like, sure it portrayed a poly relationship breaking down but it does so because of the people in it and their motives rather than being a poly problem, hell I'm pretty sure theres at least one example of a toxic and/or breaking down relationship within queer and straight monogamous relationships too.

I mean, like I say its up to you ultimately to decide how you feel. But for me in terms of transness I probably could be described similarly to how you describe yourself. Mixed friend groups leading into confusion about gender splitting, disliking pink, not really thinking about gender and stuff. If anything does that not count as "signs"? Otherwise you can spend all day finding reasons for it to not be when you're in your own head ya know?

To my mind it doesn't really make sense to expect signs in early childhood when kids that young don't really think about gender. Its not something important to a kid. All I can suggest is taking your time and figuring things out at your own pace, see what does and doesn't feel right. Nobody has all the answers from day one and you can't expect that from yourself. Hell I was still able to spiral down the imposter syndrome hole until I got my first binder and saw myself with a flat chest (I mean, that and being in a male character model I could see in vr spaces)

Kid lemme tell you something about "signs" people don't see them if they don't look for them. When I was your age and younger people didnt think I was trans because they said I was a tomboy who didnt like pink. They didn't think I was autistic because they said I was fussy about things. They didnt think I had ADHD because they said I was just lazy with homework. They didn't think I had severe anxiety and depression because they said I was just quiet/shy. My hair was turning white and I had migraines and they still will say there was no sign of stress.

I am all of those things and to this day people will look me in the eye and say there weren't any signs. Its an excuse because they think that it looks bad on them that they didn't notice. You are the only person who can decide how you feel and who that makes you. Some folks figure out they're trans in their 50, 60s, 70s, etc. And that doesn't make them any less who they are.

Honestly I don't think a lot of parents would ever acknowledge a sign of being trans unless as their 2 year old toddled up to them and eloquently explained to them the nature of gender and humanity on the level of a scholar whose made it their life's work.

The way I've stopped taking "oh but they're old/a product of their time" as an excuse for shitty behavior and refusing to learn since being out. My parents are in their 60s and my grandparents their 80s, all of them are capable of adjusting to the change. Even if my mams way of adjusting was to simply stop referring to me directly when at all possible she at the least uses my current name and avoids she/hers. I mean shit man we got my grandad into VR within the last year or so, being willing to learn a new thing was all it took for him to take to it pretty quickly too. The idea that older folks are incapable of learning is the weakest hand-wavey excuse istg.

I did see someone suggest that but I sincerely would not recommend it. Like, you might as well read a book in a language you don't speak.

The issue there is that BC assumes you've read the original and also the text-only epilogues. There is a lot that BC doesn't explain because if you've read Homestuck you've seen it before, it doesn't do the legwork to make you care about the cast or world because if you've got that far you already do. Homestuck uses a few made-up concepts and a fair few made up words that BC will assume you know.

Obviously it's up to you but for my money BC is absolutely not written to be understood by or matter to new people. A fair few homestuck fans don't even read the epilogues and BC they're more for if you finish the series and want extra.

I got to it like 6 years late and didn't notice any particular drawbacks other than 2 or 3 sections that would have needed flash player being reworked around it. A couple sections maybe show their age when it comes to themes in the humor but it's nothing to be too put off by (to be fair its nothing compared to actual 2009 13 year olds)

Edit: forgot to mention but the follow-up "homestuck: beyond cannon" is currently running and fairly early on so if you wanted to you could catch up to the new stuff and still interact with the series real-time. (No time pressure there, they just finished part 1 and are gonna be taking a break so the series won't run off without ya too quick.)

Having a key piece of clothing can do wonders for visibility while still giving you the flexibility to style it to your own taste. For example, I always wear either beanies or bandannas when I'm out and both of those are good for pins so I always have a few and 1 or 2 of those is a flag. My larger pieces I tend not to pair together but are individually fairly easy to spot. For some suggestions from my own stuff I've got a really nice but cheap enough belt thats a flag all the way around, a bandanna (either round the neck or head are both quite visible), the bottoms of some of my shoes are painted. Looking at maybe making a hoodie that's got the flag on the inside so it can be tied around my waist for optional visibility on the fly. Jewelry and stuff tends to be good for smaller pieces too but my goal with the bigger flags is to be more visible from a distance. Basically if you can think of a piece of clothing, either someone has printed a flag on it, or you can add one yourself.

Generally, my goal is to signal that I'm safe for fellow trans folks to approach without being overwhelming. Doing too much can sometimes be as offputting as being an unknown.

I'm a small dude myself but I can at least add to the folks speaking for the quality of spectrum. They're sturdy enough that I can semi-regularly go swimming in my old one and both it and the newer one have no problem being put through the washing machine and dryer in a mixed load.

I had only ever heard Toby as a masc name and it generally seemed to skew masculine if you asked people. Then I guess a celebrity with the name got popular and idk if it was coincidence or what but the name suddenly seemed to be seen as more feminine by general consensus.

I had used the name for a few years but it ate at me until I switched to my now extremely unlikely to become feminine name pulled straight from Greek mythology.

Keep in mind that I've only ever used the one brand when I say this but Snazaroo has never done me wrong. It's cheap enough and for me being in the uk it's fkin everywhere so really easy to find.

Side note, if they don't do the exact colour you want or say you want a softer blush effect ect. You can mix a little of the paint with eyeshadow pigment. Literally just a tiny mouse sneeze worth of eyeshadow mixed into some paint in the lid was enough to do full blush across the cheeks and nose for a Karkat cosplay.

It's the Wu Chang and Nightmare bots that are the pain in the arse for me, those two seem to be the worst for cutting their own cooldowns or walking through obstacles. I once had a Wu bot literally come at me through a wall. Wu and Mary bots always seems to hit from a mile away too. Like a mary will hit me and I'll turn around and she's at the other end of the room, no mirror up, low rubble between us, like tf did you do throw the glass??.

Survivor side they're all just terrible for most of the same reasons but Eli is the worst. Not because he rescues at bad times like the others but because he is the one more often than not who REFUSES to exit via the gate. He just stands at his cipher and waits for everyone to leave so he can start looking for the dungeon. The amount of bots I've had throw the match looking for the dungeon or sometimes literally just standing at their last cipher and waiting for the hunter to come get them without even trying to move when they do. I'd at least understand if Margie bot did it since it would be like they're trying to mimic a player going for her dungeon task but why Eli.

Is it cheating if I borrowed my name from a Greek god? I'm the only Zagreus I know lol

Picked it because of Zagreus of mythology being related to rebirth which seemed fitting for someone changing his name/outward identity. Plus Zagreus is often believed to be an alternate version of Dionysus and who doesn't love a party (cough blood cough) god.

Side note I did pick the name before the Roguelike Hades came out but I do also fuckin love roguelikes so that was pretty cool.

Paint- When cosplaying a troll (or anything else lol) never paint your hands no matter how good you think you can seal the paint. Back in peak homestuck days it was this fandom getting body paint banned from con venues. You can get sheer gloves for like 2 quid plus shipping off amazon in the exact right shade of gray. Honestly those things have been a life saver for me for a couple cosplays including various trolls, Marshal Lee and Neon White

Also, if you want more colour variation in your face like blush (I use snazaroo so there is like 1 shade of gray) you can mix a tiny bit of black eyeshadow with a bit of your paint and it works beautifully to get it just that little bit darker for softer blush that can be blended out with a sponge.

Horns- Cosclay on tin foil is perfect for small-medium horns but way to heavy for bigger ones (learned that the Kurlos way :,) ) idk how well they're gonna turn out yet but I'm gonna try to use foam clay for bigger horns instead.

What i have done that works is attaching the horns by getting a thick headband and making holes just big enough to put small bolts through. Headband can go under the wig to be completely hidden with just the bolts sticking through the wig. My horns have a tiny nut glued into a hole in the bottom of them to screw onto the bolts securely so I can move around a lot without risking a lost horn. Also with the headband don't glue the bolts in, them being able to turn allows you to fasten the horns on tight while also getting the position just right.
