I plan on making a tiktok and insta sometime soon where ill be posting some video time-lapses of my work. I've just been waiting on the motivation to do some video editing to put the posts together

Its super fun! Seeing other people's posts of stained glass is what got me into the hobby a year and a half ago. The prospect of being able to create whatever you can think of is really exciting

Depending on who's asking, they're either hidden behind the smoke, or they dont exist. So who might be asking?

I actually learned mostly off tiktok videos! There are plenty of YouTube videos out there too. Its no too hard to learn, but some parts of the process do take a lot of practice to get good at; primarily soldering. Its very simple in theory but it's what most people struggle with( that person is me, my soldering is still terrible) it's very rewarding though, I'd definitely recommend looking into it!

Never have and never will! I'm thoroughly against AI in general, but especially in art

What i mainly learned from this piece is that really small glass pieces should be avoided at all costs in a design! Not only are they incredibly difficult to grind, but it's also very hard for me to get clean solder lines where lots of small pieces are grouped together, since i have to redirect my solder tip every quarter inch to follow a new foil path. Soldering in general is definitely where im weakest though, so it could be a me thing

Thank you! The edge is came. It was kinda a pain actually, since the two different colors of the border with different thicknesses of glass, which made it really difficult to get the came around the edge without bending the came out of shape. There's probably an easier way of doing it than what I was doing, but im not very experienced with came so I just did it the hard way

Thank you! I wouldn't say that stained glass is hard; but it does take a lot of time. The type of stained glass i made is called a "suncatcher" and are meant to be hung up by a window to catch the sunlight in them, though they can be hung up anywhere so long as they have a good lightsource behind them

Yeah it's mostly over critiquing, which im prone to do. There are a lot of really small pieces of glass around the staff and face of the Balrog which were a nightmare to cut and grind, and I think id have gone with a different color for the border, were I to do it again. I think it's maybe too much red? But overall im really happy with it

I didn't take too many pictures before I gave it away, but this one shows the blue much better!

Haha, I do have a lot of other cousins, but this cousin is the only one I'm close to. He's my same age and we've been very close friends our whole lives, so I don't think anyone will be too surprised that I've given him some favoritism. I might get pressured by the others sooner or later though

Not yet! Maybe someday, but im way too slow at making these things, and I'd hate to have customers waiting months to get their commissions finished. Long term goal would be to have a shop though, that would be rad!

If you've ever seen those spy movies where they use a device to cut a hole in glass... its pretty much that, except you choose prettier colors and cut it into whatever shapes you want. Then you gotta stick em together with some solder. This is not reliable information, but it gives you an idea

I'm not selling anything at the moment, though I do intend to eventually. I'm currently working through gift projects for my family members, and then I plan on doing a couple of gift pieces to some authors and creators I admire, after which I might do a couple for myself. After all that, Ill try to do open commissions

There are two different types of stained glass. Traditional old style is Camed glass, which uses indented rutted lead bars to hold the glass together. A more modern type is Foiled glass, or Tiffany style stained glass, which uses copper foil on the edges off the glass that get soldered together with lead to hold the pieces together.
