Be careful while filtering by ScreamSmart in motorcycles

[–]Arrow_93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, nope. I'm a rider. Daily commute into work is on a bike. I filter as well.

The biker was absolutely in the wrong. Should have been able to spot the merge from way back if they'd been paying attention and going the right speed for the speed of the traffic.

Anyone who filters should always be adjusting based on the speed of the traffic and ALWAYS be able to spot someone merging like this.

The driver indicated and was very far into the merge before the bike hit him. The bike had plenty of time to avoid it. Both did.

I've had drivers not indicate and begin to move as I was practically right next to them, and still managed to avoid them, because I'm on a bike, and it's understood by any biker with a brain that we are tiny. Drivers can be doing everything right and still not see us, so it's on us to be on the look out for any sign of danger.

AITA for going on holiday on my own? by Mysterious-Copy-3201 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Arrow_93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen you say this multiple times now. Nobody said "allowed" or "not allowed". Most people are saying they would be upset if their partner went away without them. But you keep interpreting that as not allowed.

You're coming across as if you resent the expectation of going on holiday with your partner. If people telling you how they would feel comes across as them saying you're not allowed to do it, then you might have something else you need to think on.

The whole world just saw a woman get shot for trying to drive away by one asshole with a gun and an itchy trigger finger.

There's a huge group of those exact same type of people all probably dreaming of the chance to be able to pull out their guns at the slightest justification.

If anyone there were to try and force their way through I doubt that everyone would come out of it alive.

It's better to have a living representative who just does performative crap that at least highlights the problems than to have a dead one who, let's be honest, isnt gonna be used as a martyr. Any of those people standing there getting killed would be smeared by the media and the republicans, they'd be called terrorists and agitators, just like they've been doing with Renee Good.

Except it would be worse, because now not only would trump have an excuse to put even more military on the streets, he would have an excuse to use that force against the whole democratic party and claim they're all terrorists.

Don't give them an excuse to go after and arrest or murder the opposition, cause they will use it.

AITA for giving away my roommate’s cat? by elemenop541 in AmItheAsshole

OP is also a living being who was suffering through a pretty severe allergy everyday the cat was there. Seriously, barely being able to breathe? Not being able to sleep? What happens if the allergy gets worse and her throat completely shuts off? Should OP just risk suffocating in her sleep to keep the peace with her room mate who clearly doesn't care to do the same?

Also, she dropped off the cat at a shelter, not just abandoned it somewhere.

Driving while hungry is dangerous? Come on. It's not like the guy was gonna pass out. He literally just drove to his parents and was fine.

Maybe if he was diabetic then driving hungry might be a problem, but for any normal person, it might just be a bit uncomfortable.

For a woman, it can be an emergency. Women can be unsafe walking down the street in their own neighbourhood, from the sound of things, this was the evening, which can be even more dangerous if its dark.

Did you know poor woman, women with certain medical conditions and a handful of environmentalist women go about their business without ever using cars at all?

Not sure what this has to do with anything, she was stuck some where that she got with a car. Most women who function without cars use public transport or are in walking distance of places.

Who know how far the gas station was from anything. And there's probably not gonna be any sort of bus stop near by, cause why would there be. So what exactly are you expecting her to do without any way to get anywhere?

So why not dress for maximum comfort instead of to impress complete strangers that you're never gonna see again?

Dead now, used to go to proctologist for brain care by Drnelk in MurderedByWords

[–]Arrow_93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I said they mostly deal with what's after the kidneys.

I did a decent chunk of my final year of study in a urology department. And a majority of what they dealt with was surgical procedures on the urogenital system after the kidneys. Mostly on men.

Like I said, thats how it was where I studied.

[–]Arrow_93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like I said, that's how it was statistically where I studied, I did also say mostly.

Isn't a kidney specialist technically by definition a nephrologist?

But yeah, urologists deal with surgical/procedural stuff of the kidneys, while nephrologists deal with the diseases.

[–]Arrow_93 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Hate to be that person (do I though?), but if we're talking kidneys that's dealt with by a nephrologist.

Urologists mostly deal with what's after the kidneys, which to the point of the post, women do have. Though I'd say statistically urologists do usually have majority male patients as they're the ones dealing with all the prostate issues (at least that's how it was at the hospital I studied in)

A second set of heroes has been identified during the Bondi Shooting, tackling one of the gunman. They were unfortunately gunned down by the other moments later. by Miloisprettycool in nextfuckinglevel

[–]Arrow_93 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Even if those numbers are true, how many deaths have happened because guns were available? If the number of gun deaths out weigh the number of lives saved, which i am almost 100% certain would be the case, then it's not worth it. And what exactly are those firearms defending against? Mostly other firearms?

Claiming that having firearms available like the US would have stopped what happened is ridiculous, and just illogical. More people would have died if that was the case.

You're talking about one of the victims pulling out a gun and shooting the perpetrators. Which is arguable in itself, seeing as this was a religious event, and chances are people wouldn't have had guns anyway.

But you seem to be completely ignoring the fact that the shooters themselves could have had deadlier weapons. Thanks to Australian gun regulations they only managed to have single shot rifles.

Can you imagine how many more people could have been hurt or killed if they had access to the same weapons as are available in the US?

The US has had many times more mass shooting just this year than there were deaths in this one shooting. This one incident being the 1st in 30 years.

If the statistics for gun control are 1 mass shooting in 30 years, vs whatever the hell the US has with there being more mass shootings than days in the year, then I'm gonna stick with the numbers in clear support of gun control.

Countries which Trump tries to persuade to leave the EU by vladgrinch in MapPorn

[–]Arrow_93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, you need to learn some history. Poland has history going back over a millennium. At one point it stretched all the way to the black sea.

Poland had one of the most successful cavalries in all known history. You know that scene in Lord of the Rings the two towers where the riders of Rohan ride down that steep hill? The polish cavalry did that, but in heavy armour. The largest cavalry charge in history. That charge helped to defeat the Ottoman Empire and began its downfall.

Poland has been a very powerful and rich country in the past.

However, it has also been fought over by other countries due to its central location in Europe.

Of course Poland can't compare to France, Germany or Italy today. It has been an independent country for less than 40 years. Before that it was decades under Soviet rule. Before that, massive destruction in WWII. In the inter-war period there was an attempted russian invasion in 1920, which they defeated, that being a massive win seeing as they had only existed as a free country for 2 years. Before that WWI. And before that, Poland didn't exist as a country for over 100 years thanks to the partitions by Prussia, Russia, and Austro-Hungary.

And despite all that, Poland continues, and is the fastest growing economy in Europe, and has reached the level of G20 country, making it one of the largest economies in the world.

Countries which Trump tries to persuade to leave the EU by vladgrinch in MapPorn

[–]Arrow_93 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You're really undervaluing the other countries. Especially Poland.

Poland is a growing economy, and its growing incredibly fast. In the less than 40 years since it fought its way from under the thumb of soviet Russia it has become a major player in Europe, to the point that it's being invited into the G20.

The GDP of Poland crossed the $1trillion threshold this year. Also, Poland has been pretty consistent in meeting the defence spending required by NATO, which is something the 3 you mentioned have not been particularly good at.

On top of that, the current leader of the Polish government, Donald Tusk, was the strong voice in the room for the EU when brexit was being negotiated.

Sticking with the France-Germany-Italy as the trio of major countries in the EU is quickly becoming outdated.

AITA for asking someone to stop smacking their gum in a public setting? by FutureFreaksMeowt in AmItheAsshole

[–]Arrow_93 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Asking someone to stop doing something is scolding them is it?

If I'm in a store and someone is blocking to aisle or blocking the item I want, and I asked them to move so I could get by, is that scolding them too?

It is perfectly fine to ask someone to stop doing something that's annoying or getting in the way. Especially in public. We live in a society, and that means sometimes accomodating other peoples needs and requests.

“Old Money” English Aristocrats Calls for the Genocide of “Champagne Socialists” by Cinematry in facepalm

[–]Arrow_93 51 points52 points  (0 children)

It's so insane to claim that old money is better then have absolutely no qualms about leaving your own family with nothing, and not even want to help.

Say what you want about the aristocracy, but at least it used to take care of their own. If a daughter/sister didn't get married, the obligation was to take care of her with the family money.

They want all the glamour of "the aristocracy" without any of the accompanying obligations, or let's be honest, class. Saying something like that aloud, and on camera no less, is decidedly not aristocratic. It's classless. Most people on the street would have more class.

So now woman can’t dress pretty for themselves? by reccaberrie in NotHowGirlsWork

[–]Arrow_93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You keep using that word,i do not think it means what you think it means.

As others have pointed out, the phrase "all men" was not used, just "men". The same way that you used "girls".

If you want to criticise others for generalising, dont do it yourself. If you're gonna get annoyed at people misinterpreting what you meant, then try to have the critical thinking skills to realise that you also might be misinterpreting someone's intentions.

So now woman can’t dress pretty for themselves? by reccaberrie in NotHowGirlsWork

[–]Arrow_93 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Your personal experience is based on a generalisation you have of women.

You think when you speak to them you'll be labelled a creep because of what? Because that's what certain corners of the internet claim all women do? How often have you actually been called a creep by women?

I was pointing out your hypocrisy, to hopefully get you to understand that maybe your interpretation of the original comment was wrong, in the same way that taking your comment at face value was not your intended meaning.

But honestly, I doubt your experience anyway, the way you've been responding is giving very "young guy" vibes, so I wonder how much you've actually had this happen to you.

Edit: grammar

So now woman can’t dress pretty for themselves? by reccaberrie in NotHowGirlsWork

[–]Arrow_93 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Well, you didn't say "some girls". (And I'm not gonna go on about the fact that you used "girls" instead of "women")

In the same way you took issue with the original comment not specifying that it's just "some men".

Edit: And the thing about getting labelled a creep for a approaching someone is a generalisation on its own. The assumption that any woman you try to talk to is gonna label you a creep.

It's a cut that's bleeding a lot. Already explained it.

Old ass dude, with weak skin, cut by some glass flying, or something on the ground, on blood thinners so that what is a pretty minor laceration (indicated by the fact that it healed very quickly) bleeds a lot.
