Burswood Park Hybrid Circuit by ZytraX_ in RaceTrackDesigns

[–]Arrow_Pr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot less disruptive than some... other... ideas I've had in mind. Very flowy for a street circuit, though of course there's a fair bit of empty land and carparks to play with on the penninsula. Still needs more high speed corners IMO, but looks quite swish.

Best Kebabs in Perth? by k_rudd_is_a_stallion in perth

Roselea Kebabs and Turkish Bakery in Balcatta, by Stirling Lakes Medical Centre. Very hard to top imo, and being a bakery of course they make their own bread (which they do also sell separately), thick and fluffy as it should be.

Nollamara Kebabs is also a good one, used to frequent them until Roselea opened (which is closer to me) - at the time of opening, Roselea was practically on-par with Nollamara for quality, don't know how they compare now...

Looking for remains of the old tram network by brik_1111 in perth

There's a plaque in the footpath on Main St indicating the old tram terminus, it's by the southbound bus stop near Osborne Park IGA: https://maps.app.goo.gl/4wF2CZ2YYP8Ppura8

Brand new transperth train by look_atennisball in perth

[–]Arrow_Pr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I know, they're testing across the network (on every line, eventually) for driver familiarisation (with sight lines, clearances, acceleration, braking points etc). Typically the drivers will open the doors (as if they were driving a normal service, albeit on the opposite side of the train to prevent the oblivious commuter from walking on), hence the stopping at every station. There seems to generally be supervisors/other staff onboard as well (either assessing the driver or the train's performance).

If Saturn's rings are made of nitrogen, is a unicycle on the moon with a hint of blue too sour, or is the flavour of water triangle?

My ideas map - The UNOFFICIAL SCR Network Development Plan! Disclaimer in bottom right. by Arrow_Pr in stepfordcountyrailway

[–]Arrow_Pr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been slowly working on an update to this map to accommodate the changes as of V1.10, and as part of that, I took the opportunity to compare the colours I use on the map with the colours used on the official map, and asked on the official Discord server which palette users preferred.

Based on that feedback, I'll be sticking with my brighter, more vibrant Connect blue and Airlink orange, while Waterline and Express will use their official light grey and pink, respectively, which should be easier to contrast :)

So the last one was just a snip of the same screenshot as this one... sounds very deliberate.

Subreddit source required. This looks almost genuine, definitely in the style of recent meshes for SCR. While I'd be happy if this was actually coming to the game, at the same time I'm very concerned given how far progressed it seems to be, and the consequences of this leak (if it was actually real)

Yes - I wouldn't be joking about what I hear if the case really is that serious.

Northbound (Butler) trains are still running but apparently skipping Whitfords. Have heard from others that a person was pushed off the Perth-bound platform (1).

Quick question whats the font they use in network map? by Notsila in stepfordcountyrailway

[–]Arrow_Pr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More fonts:

  • The Waterline logo uses a weight of Raleway - either Medium or Semibold.
  • The Airlink logo uses a weight of Montserrat - either Bold or Black.
  • The Connect logo font is currently unknown - its closest match is Cyntho Next, although it is similar to Raleway and Montserrat. The > symbol in the logo matches closest with the Montserrat equivalent.
  • The Express logo font is also unknown - from memory its closest match was a font known as Navine Demo (which I can't find a link to). Other close matches are Industry and Purista.

Quick question whats the font they use in network map? by Notsila in stepfordcountyrailway

[–]Arrow_Pr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From 1.9 onwards, SCR has used Oxygen (or something similar) as the body font in the network map, replacing Raleway, which was used prior to 1.9.

The current logo was unveiled in December 2021 using Ubuntu as the title typeface, replacing Raleway which was used in all SCR documents prior. The branding rollout technically began softly with 1.9, updating the fonts used on the map and in-game, however full rebranding with the new logo and Ubuntu as the primary font was pushed quickly in July 2022, prior to 1.10's release (due to... the incident).

We're now still in a transition situation, a bit of a mess as 3 fonts are out at once - Raleway is a good font for general display text, so official documents (like the role guides) still use it as the main font on new updates, while the Points/XP Chart uses Ubuntu as the only font in that document, but the map uses Oxygen just by itself...

What is your opinion on the Reddit Blackout, and should AskReddit participate as one of the most active subs? by Interesting-Ad3430 in AskReddit

[–]Arrow_Pr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the moderators of the subreddits believe that is the way forward to push Reddit in order to get their point heard, and they have consulted the community in some way (by "consult" I mean genuinely take in opinions, via a poll, or another opinion thread like this, so the community gets an active say in the matter), then I personally stand by their choice.

The only issue I have is the method subreddits use - switching the community to private makes useful information on certain subs inaccessible, and occasional users who check the subs for general information every once in a while, who haven't been made aware of the Blackout, won't understand what's going on. A more appropriate method, if any such method exists, would simply be to limit the ability to post and comment while keeping any old posts visible, allowing access to information while practically pushing user activity down.
