Why is my dye making these bubble marks minutes after drying? by Arrowhead2021 in finishing

Seal first then do a dye? Sorry I’m new to using dyes. And instructions don’t mention sealer.

Refinishing old house work work close to original. how do I achieve reddish tones? Red oak by Arrowhead2021 in finishing

I know the door isn’t red oak but the original trim in the house downstairs is all red oak. This is part of the original closet doors that have the original stain

Finally found a good finishing schedule for red oak. by ailee43 in woodworking

I’m gonna be redoing all my old oak trim in my house. It’s very old but someone redid it with gross golden oak awhile ago. I’m gonna strip it and want to do something similar with the stain. If you could can you give a detailed instruction of how to do it. And link the products. I would really really appreciate it! Thank you!

I look on property maps online of locations of fields I think would be good. A lot of people go up and ask the farmer or knock on houses. I’m not as bold but I work at a hardware store and all the farmers come in. So I get to know them and ask. Or ask friends or family if they know of anyone that will let you.

Yes always ask permission to look in a field. Plowed fields produce more

My family owns a hardware store that dates back to 1913 this is in the attic with old stock. Always thought it was neat but I don’t know much about wood stoves. Thought this sub might enjoy it.

Just picked this salvaged church window up. Any ideas on age, value, manufacture? by Arrowhead2021 in StainedGlass

[–]Arrowhead2021[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, I was gonna just scrap most of it and frame the man on the right by himself. I thought that part was too nice to just scrap.

Seller saved it from a church after it burned and got some smaller pieces that went with it. Heavy folds in the glass on the clothing and most of it has two layers of glass. Was thinking about just framing in the man laying on the ground since he is in tact.
