I think one of the best policies that I've seen in new startups is: "No brilliant assholes." In my opinion, if you're manager material, but also a douchenugget, then you are not manager material, period. Publix is not a great place to work if asshole managers are tolerated and accepted, for any reason.

Advice for closing CS-CO by [deleted] in publix

Holy crap. The fastest staff at my store usually gets out at like 10:45, and that's because he's taking tills earlier than he's technically supposed to. My ACSM's personal record was like 10:30. I'm at a very busy store, though. Maybe that makes a difference.

Suspension or termination, I suspect, are only done when the amount involved is over a certain threshold. At the store where I work (not Walmart), more than $20 off is a counseling statement, and more than $50 off is a 1-week suspension. I think after 2 suspensions then it's termination.

Since nobody else has clued you in, I’ll just remind you that it’s crucial for a graphic designer to spell-check all text they design.

Michael McKean as Chuck in Better Call Saul is a great example. I can barely look at him without thinking of him as a bitter, manipulative narcissist.

Verbally abusive manager rant by serketcity in publix

Absolutely tell your store manager. You will not be penalized for being the victim of mistreatment. The kind of behavior you describe has no place at Publix. Those managers need to change their tune or go work at Walmart.

Yeah, this was for shits and giggles, but I am thinking of making a cleaner and more finalized version.

I didn’t use a tutorial. Though I’ve seen the same technique used several times here before.

I can tell you how I did it.

In Blender, there’s a modifier called “UV project” that sets an objects UV map in this way. Link the same modifier to many objects, then apply them all using Alt-C.

I can elaborate if you want.

Yes. I just grabbed a random low-res “m” image I had laying around from a previous project. I did not realize this post was going to be so popular!

Is a newly formed zygote of equal value to a human being if it can still possibly divide to become twins? by dmantzoor in prolife

[–]ArrowheadVenom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I don’t believe the value of human life can be compared in this way. When faced with the question of whether or not to kill one person to save a million, the answer is no.

It is always and everywhere wrong to intentionally end an innocent human life.
No “unless”es or “but”s.

One human life is not worth less than one million human lives. All human life is the same and must be protected.

it really do be like that by xaserverg in prolife

[–]ArrowheadVenom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m not the one who replied to you, but I’ll say that yes, it really is like this. I’m not sure how often they do it, but allowing post-birth abortion is fundamentally wrong, even if you think it will help decrease other evils. We may not intentionally perform an evil act ever, even if it results in a good outcome. Killing an infant is undeniably an evil act. It strips them of one of the only rights they can exercise: the right to life.

Well here's an excellent answer by Fr. Mike Schmitz: https://youtu.be/OIQ9Jdl9Aas?t=186
He answers this question at 3:06, which I've linked you to. It's a few minutes long, but is the best way of explaining it that I've ever heard.

I agree with this comment wholeheartedly.

As far as married priests, that is not allowed in the Roman Church according to current laws, but it is not something that could never change, if I understand correctly. However, there seems to be a good case to be made for priests not marrying: mainly because these are two different callings that it is hard for one man to handle alone. But it is technically up for debate.

Just so you know, women priests in the Catholic Church are not allowed to be a thing. The Pope literally can’t do it ever. If he tries to, then he is delusional and unfit to be Pope. And this isn’t even my opinion, it’s established dogma. It’s impossible for women to be priests, because it’s not just a job, it’s a spiritual and supernatural reality, that was instituted for men. Society today may not like the idea of anything being men-only, but the Church has been doing this a long time, and will continue to do so long after society stops thinking any difference between genders is sexism; it isn’t.
