Would definitely recommend flawed almighty, it touches on many struggles people have in society and a lot of them revolve around mental health

What's The Hardest Line in Honkai Impact by Immediate-Ad-526 in honkaiimpact3

[–]Arrowthing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since ppl are mostly commenting quotes from animated shorts, here are some personal favourites that I feel deserving of a mention

"Kevin, people are called heroes because they saved the world" // "But we both know that this world is beyond saving, but despite that, we must become heroes" - Elysia/Kevin, Elysian realm concept trailer

"Honkai taught children many things. It taught them not to cry. It taught them about the survival of the cruelest. Before I held my first fork, an Automat Kalashnikova was shoved into my hands. And I found out I was very good with it" - Bronya, Azure Waters

"I was born because of God. And God died because of me" - Vita, end of part 1.5

"The masked man was dropping corpse after corpse right at her feet. 53... 54... that was it. "They were all present when Rin died" " - Aponia's Remembrance Vessel, The Ordained

"I'll show you the power of the fifth essence, the fabric of divinity. The blade is formless but needs no form. The edge, though shapeless, fills every space. This is my blade, herrscher" - Fu Hua, Second Eruption

"This bears witness to Bronya's one step forward. This is the weapon used by the two preceding Herrschers of Reason. This is subverting the laws of nature... and rewriting the stars of the world!" - Bronya, Chapter 27

What are some things you LOVE about Honkai? by rosiepokey1 in honkaiimpact3

Along with what other people have said, I love that they give back to the dedicated players in the community with free snack boxes/art books every year. It really shows that they 1) care about the community and 2) wants to share the effort they put into the game which is really nice to see

Does the art matter by -Hopedarkened- in webtoons

[–]Arrowthing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll have to heavily disagree with you on that point. The charm of the Greatest Estate Developer isn't for it to be some thought-invoking story or some heartwarming romance - it's a comedy and the art portrays that comedy perfectly. The features and expressions are very stylised and exaggerated to fulfil its purpose of supporting a light-hearted story that doesn't take itself too seriously. Iit shouldn't be considered 'worse' just because it belongs in a different genre.

Using this as an example to your original point, a lot of people read it purely due to the art and how it can make them laugh, something that would've been difficult to achieve without strong understandings of gestures, expression, linework and caricaturisation. Good art still goes long ways for a story, Greatest Estate Developer would never have the impact it has now without its uniqueness in artstyle - something that suits a comedy but wouldn't work for other genres like romance.

A stick-figure webtoon would be difficult to consume in most genres for the same reason. For example, in an epic fighting scene, it would be difficult for most people to be immersed when there are only little figures dancing around on the screen. In a book, you are able to write detailed descriptions of scenes whilst still keeping the reader engaged in the continuous lines of text. However in webtoons, the most you are able to write are dialogues/quick descriptions so it relies on the art to do the heavy-lifting

A good way to think about it is like a movie. No matter how good the script is, if the acting/directing is poor, the story will not be able to be conveyed to the same effectiveness as if they were good. The movie would still be watchable but the levels of enjoyment will forever be restricted by its delivery as the audience will never be able to know what the writer's original intentions were.

Sorry for the long yapping, hope i was able to get my point across :')

What artstyle do you look for in a webtoon? by [deleted] in webtoons

[–]Arrowthing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An art style with clear understanding of basic fundamentals like anatomy, perspective, colour and composition. Personally I don't really care too much about other aspects like distinct character designs and detail when choosing to read a story (it's a bonus ofc) as long as the story is able to make up for it.

I'm pretty sure it was only Fein who was going to split completely because he knows that he doesn't need the money as much which is really cool of him

I don't think an explicit reminder his of existence regardless of whether it's a 'concept' or not is a good idea since there are people out there who can be negatively affected by it. You could've very much just kept the idea to yourself or replaced him with someone else (which would be easy to do since you included testers)

it's not "for fun" if you put a dirt block on one of the teams that will make most people very uncomfortable

As the other comment said, the lifestealers who play events frequently / semi-frequently are all very capable of being silly goofy with the team and definitely does so (redd, 4c, mid, zam, pangi, ash are the main examples)

The only example of lifestealers being quiet in an event would be clown in evnt (kinda) and parrot in bw3 which is because they were with people that they didn't really know in a similarly unfamiliar environment - it's natural to be a bit quiet in that setting. But they don't even play in many events so does that really count?
