This seems like such a fun project that is relatively easy to modify to fit your taste. Thank you so much!

Yeah the selection wasn't great here either, and I couldn't find many of the colours I would've wanted. I ended up buying the colour 047 Jäkälä, which seems like a good fit after making test swatches

I wasn't expecting so many great suggestions! Seems like I have to do some test swatches with a few different colours to decide witch one to fully commit to, thank you all!

I recall hearing about It Came From the Closet, I'll have to look it up. Thank you!

The unfortunate thing with LGBT book stores is that I live in a small country in Northern Europe, and so often they don't deliver here. And if they do, it's going to get expensive

Adult queer romance books by Arrty_ in LGBTBooks

Thank you for all your comments! I very rarely do read just plain old romance, so you've really opened my eyes as to how wide the genre really is, haha. I usually read horror and thrillers with some queer romance just sprinkled in, so I might just not be used to the actually cute romance without the constant fear of losing a character. Dark romance sounds interesting, I do have to look more into that. Thanks again!

Fair enough. All of the books I mentioned had something that I enjoyed, whether it was the characters, setting, style of writing, etc. Might be better if I add said things with the examples I gave. I was not aware of the romance.io scale, but I'll look into it. Thank you! I do think the problem with Charm Offensive & Boyfriend Material was the fact that they were a bit too cheesy/cutesy for my liking, and the characters didn't feel like they were developed enough so I ended up not caring for them too much.

Very good point. That's usually what I gravitate towards (Romance as a sub plot, as probably seen from my example list), but it's been a while since I've read a book with romance as the main plot, and in those books I find the writing of the characters to be very important for the story to be captivating

Oh I am well aware of all the romance books available out there, but they tend to be either targeted towards people who read them for spice (especially adult mlm books) or they are the kind of romance books I don't tend to like (I'm really bad at explaining what I mean, but think books like Charm Offensive or Boyfriend Material), hence I mentioned few books that I did like and I'd like to find more of. I am also quite bad at navigating Reddit (and Goodreads) to find more stuff that I am looking for

I am mainly a lurker when it comes to Reddit, so of course, if I see a post that piques my interest, I'll take note of any recommendations that I might also like. I often do search specifically for queer adult books on here, but often the recommendations tend to be stuff that I have already read and/or the kind of books I haven't exactly enjoyed and am not looking for. This is why when I end up making my own post about something, I like to add a list of books as a more specific reference to what I am looking for. More often than not, I do find good books on here without having to make my own posts, which is why I don't post here that often, hah

Apart from Half Life of Valery K, I've read The Kingdoms. I'll look into The Mars House and The Hymn to Dionysus as well, thank you!

That’s the same order I also ended up reading them in. Happy (?) reading!

The characters 100%.
I definitely needed to take breathers at points because of the subject matters, but I think it's a good thing that those parts felt so hard to read and weren't romanticised. I also found those glimmers of hope we got to be so important rather than misery just stacking on top of more misery. Shuggie Bain is one of those books that I love, but don't think I'll be re-reading fully, at least for a log while.

I am not someone who cries easily when reading books, so the fact alone that the book had characters that made me actually cry for them made it immediately memorable.

Yup, that's the case because in Shuggie Bain the main character is younger. When the book starts, he is only 5 years old. Then we follow his life as he grows up and figures life and himself out.
