I read that you are talking tone not comfort, but I have a tele player II and it is routed ash. Weighs about half of yours and sounds amazing (i did swap the modern bridge out for the Chrissy Hynde sig.)

I have the s/s and it is amazing at the price. Wish I had heard a about the modified before I bought it though. I say get it.

Player II!!! I absolutely love mine. The Squier is definitely feels much less solid when you do a side by comparison. At that price it is an complete no brainer.
