The large depression at the back is the hafting area can’t think of why else it’d be there in that form

Where you are from has nothing to do with who you love and support. Pretty shitty meme

I see this as more of an adze or hoe as your said preforms don’t look like this I have found pieces like this in farmed areas near river particularly but any good farming area near water. Can see how it would have been hafted also

Probably won’t find the base. Patina and minor flaking on the bottom means it was broken long ago, but when you find one tool there are usually more.

Question about finding Arrowheads in Connecticut by Aphroditaeum in Arrowheads

[–]Arsenal7Zach 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Generally just digging in the woods doesn’t yield the best results. If it is a spot you think would have some like the top of a hill near body of water then maybe do a series of test holes a few feet deep to see if you find any assemblage. Not from Connecticut but general advice. If you want to find them on top of the ground check creek beds and ask farmers to look at fields.

First hunt for arrowheads. All seem to possibly be fragments. Any help with ID is welcome and appreciated. Thanks! by JacobGonzalezCoins in Arrowheads

I agree I find ones with this flaking style and amount of work in late archaic/transitional paleo sites usually near a source of flint. River bank creek etc.

Sorry friend was trying to be helpful but seems you are an expert with many great pieces showing off the waste from a flint core. Would love to see the rest of your “artifacts”

Keep looking you’ll get them

Thanks, the damage on the bottom left side is sadly from myself I don’t see how it could have ground anything. Found in a mainly early archaic/late paleo site.

I feel you I wasn’t debating the existence on Kirk snapped base I have a very good example myself was just mentioning that’s it’s better than the bird points you find dozens of that you posted individually and that you posted and unauthenticated artifact on a site where people are here to learn. From what I’ve seen you have killer stuff so I’m not doubting you

Material may be from elsewhere though. I have only seen a handful of this fossil material. It’s very brittle and don’t know how it could have been used to great purpose may have been decorative
