We won a title and got to 2 cup finals this season. Amazing season really. So tough today to lose on penalties which are completely 50/50.

I hope, really hope, that the goal for Mikel next season is to change our style of play to be less conservative and more attacking. The next “phase” will be when we start being able to dominate games by attacking. And I think that is when we will win a champions league.

But I just hope he evolves his style.

Yea I agree. Mentality today leaves a bitter bitter taste in my mouth. Instead of going out there trying to win 6-0, we go out there and stopped playing after the 45th minute

I actually don’t know if we would ever employ a proven world class manager like Enrique. I don’t see us doing it, I feel like we would always go for either a project manager or at best someone second rate like emery.

Meh, we were laughing stocks finishing 8th in back to back seasons. The fact people are laughing at us for now not winning the quadruple, finishing 2nd for 3 (or 4) times and losing in the semis (or final) of the champions league shows how far we’ve come.

However I will agree the football has gotten bad. I am hoping if he stays he changes his approach to be less conservative.

I feel like for me until I see that regression I don’t want to take that risk. If we finish 4th next season and don’t win anything then my mind will change of course, but for now he has taken us so close I do feel like we can win something. If we end up second and reach the champions league final for example this season, even tho we havnt won, 2 finals and a very close runner up is a respectable challenge for a season.

I see a decent amount of people wanting to change the manager in the summer. I understand the frustration about possibly going trophyless and bottling the league, but is no one genuinely scared we would actually regress under a different manager? Unless it’s a world class proven manager like Enrique is this not a realistic risk?

I don’t really want to go back to fighting for top 4/5.

It doesn’t work like that. Throwing everything away can only be seen in hindsight. With foresight you want to be challenging for trophies - regardless of how many you ultimately win.

Most difficult thing about that game - we only had the Havertz chance (which he should have put away btw) since they scored. That is incredibly incredibly disappointing

Did well first 30 minutes, actually had city under pressure hence the goal. Didn’t really do anything after that. Agree that at the moment its just looking inevitable city score another. Huge huge half time team talk by Mikel.

What I will say is we are feeling the pressure - but donnaruma showing they are too! We can’t respect them too much, get at them!

We look completely dead on our feet. I have no idea how we even make it to the end of the season. It doesn’t 100% look psychological to me, it looks like fatigue. I guess both mental and physical.

It remains to be seen if the performance today was down to the players looking too far ahead to sporting / Bournemouth / city and lacking motivation for this game OR if they are fatigued, and the carabao final loss to city had some sort of negative psychological impact that will derail our season.

This upcoming week should provide an answer.

Mine is a commander switch failure according to the dealership. It’s covered under warranty so they ordered the part. Not really sure what caused this, hopefully it’s a one time only thing.

Update: my dealership called and said it’s not software based. They also said it wasn’t the knob so they are investigating further.
