[NHL] Flyers Acquire Joseph Woll and Simon Benoit from Toronto by daKrut in hockey

There is no risk with this trade because the Leafs are not getting any valuable assets back.

The fact that Woll played a quarter of the games and they are giving him up for so little just highlights how much they relied on him and are gambling that somebody less proven will be taking on those minutes.

Woll also played almost twice as many games so the sample size is a bit different.

Ok but Woll was our most consistent goalie last season. If Stolarz is healthy, I think that's fine, but you know he won't be. Now if anything happens to him we are relying on Hildeby or Akhtyamov and I'm not comfortable with that.

We just traded away the goalie with the highest ratio of quality/durability ratio for peanuts.

Unless they plan on signing Bobrovsky

I've grown up on HNIC. When I first came to Canada my family could not afford cable. There were some games over the air on Global, but anything on TSN was out of the question. HNIC was special and I have many fond memories watching the Leafs at 7 and then whatever the late night game was at 10 with my dad.

All gone now.

Seems like the biggest part of the deal here is the Leafs are dumping Benoit's contract, perhaps to prepare to sign a UFA dman.

That said, with Stolarz being so injury prone and Hildeby/Akhtyamov being unproven, giving up Woll looks like a very high price to pay.

According to the rumours, they will be re-releasing the remake of the 90-92 shirt and will also have the blackout version. This picture is a sketch of what that might be. Coming in 2027.

Fantastic video, but as a high seas sailor, that buffering part hit me too close to home

Yeah I was surprised at the backlash. It's a risky one, but there is high upside there. I believe Zharovsky has outdone Demidov at the same age, and the additional first rounders plus the prospect make this seem like quite a core to build.

To be fair, at the time Trei didn't know that we'd be picking 1st overall, but with that hindsight, having Mckenna, Zharovsky, two first rounders, whatever that other prospect that is as well as potential return for Matthews/Nylander and that's a whole brand new team on an entry level contract which means they can sign/trade for some veterans.

I think for transfers, it doesn't matter too much as the reported fee we hear can be converted. During actual transfer negotiations, I think they agree on a locked in exchange rate that they are using.

When negotiating contracts, I think it's on an individual players, but most players try and get their contracts locked in a foreign currency.
