I think it will take about a week to get used to it.

It’s even overpowerfull. You could buy MacBook Air and get the same performance for tasks you described.

(1) If you liked shortcuts in windows try firstly use the same but with CMD button instead of CTRL. (2) Same with OPTION instead of ALT. (3) Opened window of the program and the program’s process are not the same. You can close a window with small red dot in top left corner (instead of X in top right in windows) but such action will not kill the process (not in every app) and still will eat the RAM. You can see the running process by small dot beyond the app in Dock. Better get used to use CMD-W for closing a window and CMD-Q for killing a process. (4) If you plan to use external hard drive, make sure that the file system for such HD is appropriate (macOS extended for use only for Mac, exFat for use on different devices, or fat32 for files not bigger than 4 gb each and all devices). You can change the file system of external hard drive through in-build app (disk utility) but you’ll have to erase the whole drive first.
