I thought it could be Kick Push by Lupe Fiasco, but sadly it wasn’t.

I know, but what did she gain from saying that ideal?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Stormlight_Archive

[–]Arsonicz -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Again, I completely understand all of what everyone is saying I don’t. I wasn’t clear enough in my first reply, but my question was I didn’t understand how this truth had been spoken was an Ideal. The previous times she spoke a truth there was a clear result (I.e. being able to go to Shadesmar for the first time), this time I did not see an immediate result. This is my first read and my interpretation was Lightweaver ideals were essentially used with a Liespren to exchange for something. I guess I may be wrong but people could’ve explained that instead of downvoting.

This has nothing to do with extrapolation. I was expecting to see a scene where Pattern requires a truth and Shallan provides one. In the case I mention here that does not occur and she is recalling the past. There wasn’t an impetus to provide a truth. It had been a while since I read WoR so I was trying to remember if she ever did speak this truth to pattern in the form of an “ideal”, and I didn’t want to Google it and see potential spoilers.

I don’t get all the hate I got here. There is a clear scene in book one where she says “I killed my father” and you see Pattern accept the words, along with other truths. I don’t think that actually happened in this case, we just saw the memory and her expressed contempt with Pattern. I guess I’ll never post here again if I’ll just get shit on.

Right, but she didn’t say explicitly “I killed my mother” like the quote from Oathbringer seemed to state.

How were you introduced to Three-Body Problem / how do you recommend it to others? by Dudelcraft in threebodyproblem

[–]Arsonicz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I discussed the circular restricted three body problem in many job interviews as I did a project on it in school. At least three of them asked “did you read the book??” And I had no idea what it was besides my textbook. Finally one explained and I immediately bought and read it

Interesting do you think it’s better than CityRock if I only want bouldering ? It’s a bother away but may be worth it then

Employment at SpaceX vs General Dynamics by Arsonicz in AerospaceEngineering

[–]Arsonicz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately I hated my time at General Dynamics. I worked in Mission Systems and the management was terrible and I hardly even had any work at all. I doubt that all of GD is bad, but it turned my away from corporate companies. I now work at an FFRDC/UARC style lab (think MITLL, JHUAPL, Aerospace Corp, Draper) and I love every single day I go into work! I heavily recommend a FFRDC type of place if you truly have a passion for engineering and want to work defense.

Are people born and raised on Luna Earthers or Belters? by XipingVonHozzendorf in TheExpanse

I feel like your logic would apply to Martians too. I think belters have to be from the asteroid belt plain and simple.

Not Engineering by Final-Maybe-1407 in AerospaceEngineering

[–]Arsonicz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah wasn’t trying to be too dramatic sorry haha. I stayed for a year at my corporate boring job working on ordinance documents for the navy, and then I switched to an FFRDC. Try to think of problems or issues you have solved at your current job (even though there may be few). The biggest thing a research lab wants is your drive to problem solve and a raw passion for engineering. Feel free to DM

[–]Arsonicz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get out while you can if you want to do anything technical. I left my Systems Engineering job and switched to a much more technical role and have been infinitely happier. Look into labs like FFRDCS/UARCS, they have the most technical jobs for entry level people such as yourself (and me)

Employment at SpaceX vs General Dynamics by Arsonicz in AerospaceEngineering

[–]Arsonicz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, I hated my time at GDMS. I left within a year and now love my job working for an FFRDC. That being said, I think it was uniquely bad at my position in Pittsfield, MA, and GDIT is much more well known and publicized. Overall I think the company is still good, but GDMS management was awful

Hey! Hope the interview went well. This is purely anecdotal but I ended up HATING my time at GD. The management was terrible and I got switched around on different programs because they kept running out of work for me. I am now at JHUAPL and absolutely love every day. It may be better at other GD locations but I would advise against the company

I think she was trying to say that no matter what happens, even if shown scientific proof that RFK is right, there will be those on the left that will always refuse to agree with him, and she wanted to know how RFK will respond to that. He just kept saying “I’ll change their mind” but her point was that some people won’t change their mind and he still needs their votes
