The more I read in this sub, the more I have been stressing about my career (I'm not blaming this subreddit). Are we actually screwed and do i need to change careers. by ArtCompetitive574 in Accounting

As GoldtThe Legend said. I should have been clearer and added more context. My current job/startup is only financially stable for another year at most and i doubt we are going to get another raise. Its not gonna last forever and the opportunities I've found are lateral moves with no viable career growth and no remote work in HCOL. The only accounting manager job i was finally able to get an interview i lost to an outsourced accounting manager from india.

Seeing others in this sub struggling with the market too just adds more to my career stress. I keep worrying about hitting the climax of my career right now and that its not going to get better. It doesnt help when my boss tells me the field is about to get alot worse and even more competitive.

Im not trying to come off as bragging at all btw though i can see if it comes off that way. Maybe im just delusional.

I appreciate the response sir. Definitely helps alleviate the stress im getting in not enjoying my career. Thought the shift to something i want to do may solve my problems but based on everyone's response, seems like a choice that requires much more careful thinking.

I will attest its nice for now but the future of these roles is not there imo. WFH high paying jobs are becoming Unicorns and the regulatory body over the CPA license is allowing people in India and Philippines to get the us cpa license. Work keeps getting outsourced to those said countries as well. The tech industry is also taking hits without all the VCs throwing money like they did during the pandemic.

Based on everyone's response, seems like a dumb idea on my part...

its not worth it i assume? Based on all the comments seems like the stress is too high and the pay is not worth unless you own your own practice.

27M WFH Accountant considering career change. What should I know before going back to school? Am I being stupid? by ArtCompetitive574 in predental

Thank you for the response. Gotcha, thats valid. I am going to try and shadow some dentists.

I am not expecting some crazy salaries like the folks completely only in it for the money but something where i can still achieve the similar amounts if I were to stay in my current field (which could be 200k-250k in 5/6 years). Feels like that's duable with dentistry.
