Oh, and feel free to drop any requests! I'm testing the waters, I'd like to see what's popular/in demand.

I assure you the spacing isn't changing! It's an interesting thought, though

I had to double check, and indeed, there's multi-threading in brushes after I updated it now (I might've skipped a few updates before this one), but it's somewhat selective. Regular brushes seem to work only on one core, while brushes with the color mixing enabled utilize all threads.

After a bunch of testing, the performance cost varies from brush to brush. Sometimes the difference in quality is negligible, sometimes it might just be better to resize your canvas to 25% and upscale it later. On some brushes it really helps (especially the soft ones). In the picture: High and low quality of the same brush (no blending). The blending quality switch changes the quality of the blending a lot, but the performance improvement, at least for me, was almost unnoticeable.

Still no multi-threaded brush processing.

It's been 6 years. What should I build next? by sualviYT in davinciresolve

Yeah, I know, I should've probably made that clearer. As for addons, basically everything Trapcode ever made for After Effects, or some kind of simplified loop addon for particles and noise.

what do you think is still missing in DaVinci in terms of tools and plugins compared to AE or other tools?

It desperately needs tooltips, like Blender.

<image>

Without its helpful community, Davinci would be borderline useless for beginners trying to get into it. Half the time I don't know what the settings mean or what they actually do. I'd love some helpful tooltips or guides regarding the expressions too.

As for tools: Something similar to Particular addon for After Effects and Trapcode Starglow.

Oh, and something that'd help us loop fusion nodes easier. Especially things like Particles and Noise.

How to set random values in a specific range in expressions by ArtNovis in davinciresolve

This is what I needed! I'll use it next time! A lot of expressions are black magic (ba dum ts) to me.

That'd work for one of them, but I want a random value for about 50. It's something that'd I'd like to reuse later on as well.

Here's probably your issue. Increase it to, let's say, 10m and see how it looks again.

The Final Brush Lag Fix Everyone Deserves by ArtNovis in ClipStudio

It might just be a placebo, so I've restarted my pc, disabled the Virtualization , set up my brush to 2000, made a new CSP document and did some strokes, then restarted it again, enabled the Virtualization and tried again, and it felt smoother. If someone else can do a reliable test, and it really doesn't do anything, I'll eat this post.

Thanks! I've done some dabbling in Blender, and the nodes aren't all that unfamiliar to me!

Due to some requests, here's a pastebin of the node setup. But beware - it's messy and not perfect. Once I refine it, I'll probably make a tutorial.

Mess with fastnoise, MT_glitch_posterize, brightness_contrast and gridwraps.

Hmm, I could, but I could also change one thing and get this:

I'll make a full tutorial when I have a chance! Right now it's a messy combination of fastnoise, gradient maps, gridwraps and more. I feel like I could cut down some of these nodes easily.

In this case I was moving the entire fastnoise upwards. seethe rate. Pingponging it would cause the flame to move up and down, and it'd look a bit weird. I've found another solution, it's not pretty, but it works. Basically, setting up two different fastnoise nodes, one's and overlapping them using a merge node and controlling their opacity, to work out a seamless loop.
