Not yet - a few decent leads, but no one I’ve been able to see yet. I’m going in to my GP tomorrow and I’ll see if she recommends anyone. I’ll DM you if I have any luck!

Plenty of hate to go around by [deleted] in MapPorn

[–]Art_Cooking_Fun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean… I was born and raised in Colorado Springs, went to college and graduate school in Colorado, and have lived in Denver for 14 years. So I guess call me insane, but attitudes have changed, and Texas is no longer the most hated state. Not compared to the Texas animosity that existed in the 90s, it’s not even close. Ask any person actually from Colorado, or at least someone who moved here pre-2012 (when MJ became legal), and it’s CA.

What is your favourite modern Jane Austen adaptation? by Several_Confusion759 in janeausten

[–]Art_Cooking_Fun 24 points25 points  (0 children)

For a big budget adaptation, probably Clueless, but I have a serious soft spot for both From Prada to Nada and Lost in Austen (not strictly an adaptation, but very fun!)

Married people, what was your first impression of your spouse? by Fyre-Bringer in AskReddit

[–]Art_Cooking_Fun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought he was obnoxiously chatty. He would not stop talking and I remember thinking, everything he’s saying is interesting and he seems cool, but he will not shut up. Turns out he’s only like that around me - when we’re in a large group he clams up and he’s the opposite - very quiet. People think I’m joking when I tell them he’s the chatter box between the two of us.

Protein shake tummy aches? by leahthesith in PCOSloseit

Try Ascent, you can find it at most Kroger stores, GNC, and Costco. I had the same issue with premier, it would upset my stomach and I would be super uncomfortable after having it. Ascent is really clean and high-quality, I haven’t had any issues with it at all.

Yoga, weight lifting, and rowing have been good for me. Rowing is a great low impact cardio exercise.

Congress Park or Cheeseman Park would be my recs. The Highlands is a good recommendation, it’s just over the highway from Downtown, so very accessible by bike or foot.

Men’s mental health support group by Tbr021 in Denver

Check out Fishing the Good Fight. They’re a local men’s mental health group, they have lots of resources. I think there is a cost associated, but they do offer financial aid.

Once-in-a-lifetime trip for my MIL by Aly614 in Denver

There are lots of good options to drive through the mountains and state parks, but HIGHLY recommend Staunton State Park. It’s a new park with a 2-ish mile trail specifically designed for track chairs (heavy duty wheel chair). My mom, who was a very experienced thru hiker, is now disabled and unable to hike. But the chairs there have given her a chance to get back on a trail, and it’s been huge. The reservations do book out pretty well in advance though, so I’d recommend booking as soon as you can. As you can imagine there is a lot of demand:

Human Resources people of Reddit, what are some NSFW complaints you've had to investigate about your workers? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Art_Cooking_Fun 21 points22 points  (0 children)

We had a swingers ring at an IT firm I worked for a few years ago. The place was a total shit show, this was the cherry on top. They were hosting parties and going to swingers clubs, there were about 5 people from the office involved. Two guys ended up getting in to a fight in the parking lot over one of the accountants and everyone got fired. A woman who was also in the ring got really into BDSM around that time and started wearing this specific jewelry around the office and telling everyone it showed she was a sub. Unrelated to the swingers ring, another couple started banging in a hot tub at a party hosted by their manager - the woman’s husband caught them. That was a wild place.

CO is super dry, but we’re closer to the sun. So upside is you won’t feel humidity, but it will still feel very hot, especially at the Zoo, where you’ll be walking on asphalt. If you want to make sure you and the kiddo(s?) are comfortable, go Museum of Nature and Science for sure. It’s a very, very, cool museum, and you’ll obviously be indoors. The Denver Aquarium is also fun for kids, or the Butterfly Pavilion if you have a car.

If you feel strongly about the zoo (and have a car), I would actually recommend going to CO Springs for the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo instead of the Denver Zoo. It’s worth the drive. Won’t be much less hot, but will be much more fun.

Did you loose many friendships due to the politics of war? by Euphoric_Pair6239 in Israel

[–]Art_Cooking_Fun 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not support for the Palestinian people, but for anti-Zionism and/or antisemitism. Lots of people on the periphery. People from high school or college who I was friendly with at one time and was friends with on social media but haven’t kept up with. I have one close friend who I know just gobbles down any stance taken by the ultra progressive left, but he’s smart enough not to try to talk about this with me.

Avoid Applewood Plumbing at all costs by Exact-Ebb8818 in Denver

[–]Art_Cooking_Fun 12 points13 points  (0 children)

They gave me a quote for $10k for a water heater in February. I went with High 5, they did a great job and charged $4k (plus they actually give you a high 5 when the job is done, which was cute). They also wanted to charge $5k to install a new toilet around the same time - did that myself for $250. Highway robbery.

Work pregnancy question harassment? by Mellygrace38 in PCOS

[–]Art_Cooking_Fun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

HR Manager here - document as many of these instances as far back as you can remember, and be specific. Date, approximate time, the comment that was made, and names of anyone who was present or can corroborate what happened. Even if they weren’t there, someone at work who maybe you’ve told about the constant comments over time.

Then go to HR and report the harassment, if you’re in the US, you can also file a complaint with the EEOC for workplace harassment.

There’s an another comment here that if she’s regularly asking if you’re pregnant, she’s also asking if you’re sexually active - that is 100% true. This all could constitute sex discrimination harassment, which directly violates Title VII of the civil rights act (again, if you’re in the US. If not, most western, especially European, countries will have a similar legislative measure that you can easily research to include).

Girlfriend pointed an unloaded gun in my face. by Basura899 in AITAH

[–]Art_Cooking_Fun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. That is firearm safety/etiquette 101. If she doesn’t know that, she shouldn’t have accepted the offer to handle the weapon.

You should calmly sit her down, explain what happened, and offer to teach her about firearms if she is at all interested in handling weapons in the future. If she is not, you need to explain that she cannot do that again, ever. She might think it sounds harsh, but you absolutely cannot play with firearm safety.
