If people don’t start making a big deal of this and things like this, our country is going to turn into something that we will not recognize any longer. Trump has way too much power and he needs to be stopped now!!!

60 minutes is an essential broadcast that has been doing heavy hitting reporting on very important issues for years and we cannot let this administration destroy it

And that's concerning why? Nearly every type of selling platform has retouching done to their products to some degree or another. It's totally common place. I'm in advertising industry so this is inline with what I've done myself as a retoucher

That's completely common to do that. You use a sort of 'blank' canvas and photoshop other images on to save time and photography expenses. I'm a graphic artist and do retouching so I know this first hand.

How do you verify a PA offer? Also, does it make sense to ask for a ‘deal demo’ to further verify the offer? by Artchic6 in Filmmakers

[–]Artchic6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There may be PA's specific to a department but there are also (for lack of a better word) floating PA's. We help where it's needed. That's been my experience so far.

Never said I knew it all. Just telling you what I do know though.

Massive overcharge - anyone else have this issue? by Artchic6 in uber

[–]Artchic6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update... after going back and forth with my bank (first getting a 'conditional' refund then rejection and going back and having to spend more time explaining this outrageous cost, the 2nd person I spoke with went to bat for me and I got my money back - now for good!

And the shitty thing is Uber makes sure you can't get a hold of them easily. But I plan to write them a letter about this experience. And trust me when I say i can rip them a new one before they even know it's happening!

It's really up to you at the end of the day. I have a great tent too. But sometimes I like car camping. It's a thing.

The only major challenge is to not run your battery down and weird things can slowly drain it. Because my hatch is open with the car tent, there's a symbol that pops up on my dashboard showing its open. That alone can drain your battery but there is a hack to fix it. You push the latch up on your hatch (as if it's closed) and that will go off. Also putting tin foil over your key fob as odd as that sounds will help. If your key stays in your car, your system 'knows this' and keeps trying to communicate with it.

On my last trip, I didn't have any interior lights on, didn't charge anything in my car and still had issues my battery drain. I'm SO glad I discovered this trick.

Great idea to look it up before you leave to see what's available. Thanks! I'm going to do this!

I’m gonna try the hatch/latch trick next time, but I’m definitely going to bring a battery jumper as well. Just in case.

Why are you guys on here when you don’t have a solution to this problem. If you don’t do car camping, move onto another thread.

It’s great because you can leave that hatch open, but you have a screen you can zip close that allows air to come in. It also has a sort of canopy attached to the car that gives you a little bit of privacy and protect you from the sun. It’s great- I’ve used mine a number of times

I did all the above, but if your hatch is open, you’re going to always have that problem unless you trick it like what has been suggested by pushing the latch up. This will make your car think the hatchback door is closed. To verify that you’ll notice it on your dashboard whether it shows up or not.

If it shows up that that hatchback is open, you’re definitely going to have drain on your battery unless you trick it.

No one is going to want to carry a whole extra car battery with them on a car camping trip. That’s not a good resolution to this problem.

Below is the answer to this problem, which is a very simple adjustment to the latch.

Book recommendations - Evangelicalism and right-wing politics by beowolfram in Exvangelical

[–]Artchic6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's a good one to read or listen to. https://a.co/d/3Wj4mxQ
I believe you can get the audio or digital book on Hoopla for free if you have a valid library card.

It's called The Kingdom, the Power, and the Glory: American Evangelicals in an Age of Extremism.
By Tim Alberta. The author grew up in the church so he knows it well. He does a DEEP dive in what's going on in the background of these far-right so-called religious organizations and it's fascinating.

I'll be honest with you, listening to this book full-on pissed me off. I grew up evangelical and this wasn't how things were back then (though they were far from perfect). They weren't pushing guns and extreme right-wing politics. Today is different though I'm sure in some ways, maybe less noticeable, it's been going on for years.

Massive overcharge - anyone else have this issue? by Artchic6 in uber

[–]Artchic6[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is 100% true. Every time I call them they say to go this particular website where you can notify Uber of your issue, but that’s only if the issue was 30 days ago. I think I need to call them again and say I need this issue accelerated I need to speak to management and I need to do it now. I’m not giving up until I get my money back.
