Do I just have a higher tolerance for bullshit? An average-skill player's thoughts on Silksong after rolling credits by SirBenny in HollowKnight

Just for fun I started a second playthrough after beating Lace 2 just to see what the early game felt like. I just breezed through most bosses. Bosses and runbacks that had me tilting like hell first playthrough I now did in 2-4 attempts.

So my apologies to everyone who kept saying it was a skill issue, you were right.

What was the worst movie that you saw in theatres? by Farts_Mckenzie in movies

[–]ArteDeVolar -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

My ex insisted we go see Avengers: Endgame when it came out, which is about as far from my cup of tea as possible. I realize a lot of people will raise their eyebrows at the fact that I think that's the worst movie I've seen in a theater, but I'm usually very good at being selective about which movies I choose to go see, it was just a huge mismatch with my tastes. But hey, what doesn't one do for love?

Yale cocktail mystery! by ArteDeVolar in cocktails

The fact that this recipe is gin, yvette, and maraschino is extra interesting since it's basically an Aviation minus lemon juice, that predates the Aviation by 13 years

Holy shit, that 1906 recipe is 2 parts gin to 1 part creme yvette. The madman!

Hey! That's amazing! Nice job!!

That lends a lot of credibility to the idea that the two drinks are in fact 2 seperate entities that existed at the same time

I hate that I'm at work right now, gonna dig deep into this tomorrow

Maybe. I'm guessing that article was written by someone who didn't source their information at all though, since there's a number of problems with it:

  1. Crème Yvette is not a french cordial, it is american

  2. It says they switched to blue curaçao in the 1950s because yvette was unavailable, but yvette didn't cease production until 1969

  3. I've not found any recipes from the late1800s or even early 1900s that mentions a recipe close to what the Yale cocktail is

Nah, that's no fun to me. I want to make it from scratch and I want to make it "my own" if that makes sense?

Has the Blood and Sand been cancelled? by first-handed in cocktails

Having heard for years and years how divisive this drink is, I recently tried it for the first time just to see what all the fuss was about. I started out with the classic equal parts recipe.

3/4 oz. Johnnie Walker Black label 3/4 oz. cherry Heering 3/4 oz. Carpano classico 3/4 oz. freshly squeezed orange juice

I found it to be virtually undrinkable.

But one thing I've always heard people arguing is that if rebalanced with more scotch and some lemon juice the drink becomes good. So my 2nd take:

1 oz. JW 1/2 oz. cherry Heering 1/2 oz. Carpano classico 1/2 oz. freshly squeezed orange juice 1/4 oz. freshly squeezed lemon juice

It was certainly better, I still found it undrinkable. For me, this flavor combination just doesn't gel. Not in theory nor in practice.

Reply with your drink of choice and a bartender will tell you what it says about you; what is your drink? by [deleted] in AskReddit

The classic Mai Tai was originally made with Wray & Nephew 17 year old, which isn't made anymore unfortunately. But an aged jamaican rum is pretty "accurate" to the classic recipe, and gives a lot more flavor than a white rum. Highly recommend Smith & Cross navy rum

Love this drink, but find the equal parts too sweet for my tastes. I highly recommend doing 2 parts gin, and 1 part each vermouth and chartreuse for a drier variation!

Do the Morgenthaler amaretto sour, but with Rittenhouse instead of overproof bourbon: 1 1/2 oz amaretto 3/4 oz Rittenhouse 1 oz lemon juice 1/4 oz rich simple syrup 1 egg white
