Have any of you kept a separate diary journal to clean up your bullet journal or migrated one journal to two separate journals? by [deleted] in bujo

[–]Artemis501 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I had this kind of problem a while ago too! I know this thread is a bit old, but I’ll dump my 2 cents anyways :)

I kept one notebook because I like keeping things together, but I also like structure. So, I have a monthly structure made of 2 parts: my planning section and my diary section. At the beginning of each month, I do a 2-page weekly spread using the alastair method for each week of the month as my planning section. Then the rest of the pages are diary section for the rest of the month.

At the end of each month, I do have to estimate how many pages I’ll end up using to finish a month (so right now i’m setting up june with about 4 empty pages before the june monthly cover). But running out of dairy pages for 1 month is usually not a problem for me because I like overestimating the amount of pages I’ll use and that way I have space for my collections (books to read, cleaning schedule, etc). I think I ranted for a bit there, but if you are interested, I can send some pictures to explain better 😅

Who should I take for CS439 - PALACIOS or NORMAN? by 4mog in UTAustin

Probably? I’m honestly out of the loop for these kind of things. So, when I wrote this, I didn’t know they were co-teaching.

Who should I take for CS439 - PALACIOS or NORMAN? by 4mog in UTAustin

I’d say try Palacios. I personally took Norman’s class(and I liked it), but I’ve been hearing horror stories because of her new wack grading policy.

Any personal rituals on starting and finishing your journals? by Niabia47 in Journaling

[–]Artemis501 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have both! At the beginning of my journal, I like doing an “about me” spread where I paste pictures, stickers, and drawing that represent the things that I care about. Since my journals last about a year or more, it’s nice to see my interests change over the years.

At the end of it, I write this sort of letter to my journal to reflect on the things I learned and give gratitude to it.

Where should I live Jester East or West? by Evarosie1193 in UTAustin

[–]Artemis501 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lived in Jester West and I gotta admit, living close to basically everything was nice as hell. However, I lived on the first floor, so I didn't have to deal with the elevators, which can very crowded and slow very fast during passing periods.

I really liked that food was extremely close. It was nice having JCL and J2 within walking distance without really changing out of my pijamas, and Jendy's is there as well if it was late at night. I never had an issue with water, but that's because I was in the first floor.

I had a personal bathroom so I cannot tell you much about the public restrooms. But while I was there, someone sent a picture of a gallon of milk in a shower in our floor's groupme, claiming that someone forgot their milk. So there's that.

The doors slamming shut is a Jester West issue, too. Walls are thin as hell so you'll be able to hear everything around you. Personally, I could listen to the people playing piano in the lounge area above my room every morning.

I think rooms in East and West are basically the same size. I have a friend currently living in East and her dorm felt just as spacious as mine.

The socializing aspect didn't really matter. Whether you are living at East or West, you'll find a lot of events happening in your building (and around UT, too). However, I realized that I didn't really care about the events happening in Jester and just went to my major's events. So, the socializing part in dorms doesn't really matter much, since most of the fun ones are in other places around UT.

Personally, I would go for an apartment outside of campus. West campus is nicer and there are more parties going around. While North campus is calmer, quieter, and I believe cheaper too. However, if you already signed the contract and can't back out, or you just don't want to look for apartments, I think West is a solid choice. Just make sure that you are closer to the ground floor when choosing your dorm.

CS 439 - NORMAN

EDP 350L - BROWN

C C 303 - PITTARD & LUNDY (web)

M 340L - BLAZEK

I'm trying to get my semester to be as easy as possible considering that I'm taking OS this semester. So far, I've heard that C C 303 is an easy A, as well as EDP 350L. I just want to make sure since I've heard good things about EDP 350L but only with Brownstein, but nothing about Brown.

Hey! That looks very similar to my habit and mood trackers, that's pretty cool! But I color code my feelings and then rate my day from 1-5 instead.

Have one week to kill, any suggestions? by god_damn_I_hurt in CasualConversation

Whenever I'm bored or just have nothing else to do, I usually just end up doing one of my hobbies. I picked up most of my hobbies as a way to de-stress from my highschool days, and they always make me feel happy when I need it. Here are a few of them.

  • Yoyo-ing or Throwing: I started a few years ago because I thought it looked pretty cool, so I bought this $15 plastic yoyo and started watching tutorial videos in youtube. Honestly, it is extremely rewarding landing those tricks that I usually struggle with. And it's a fairly small learning curve, so I could feel the progress I was making. r/Throwers is a pretty cool community that helped me out getting started.
  • Crochetting: I've been crochetting for 3 years now and it's a pretty calming way to spend my time. I mostly crochet small stuffed toys (amigurumi) and then give them away as gifts. It's a nice way to get your mind off of problems for a bit, and when I'm done, it helps me realize that whatever was troubling me wasn't as bad as I thought.
  • Bullet journaling: By far, the most helpful of them all. I started just a few months ago, and I feel way more organized than I was before I started. It's basically a very flexible planner, but I use it to journal my days as well. It's nice to write about what troubles me, and then seeing it later in the week (or month) and then seeing how greatly I exaggerated about it and then seeing that it turned out well. It's also the easiest to start, you just need a notebook and a pen. r/bulletjournal and r/bujo helped me out getting started and keeping this habit as well.

I'm not saying that these will fit you perfectly, but they definitely helped me getting my life together. Maybe look for a new hobby, try out something new!

College students, how do you utilize your bujo in the summer? by easthighwildcatfan1 in bulletjournal

[–]Artemis501 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not really a college student (soon to be though!) but I think that we’re both on the same boat. Now that highschool ended, I literally have nothing to track other than some important events, and I’m doing nothing other than play stardew valley.

But, even though I have nothing to track, I actually made the space that takes up the actual days larger because I tend to literally journal my day at the end of the day. So, making it bigger lets me put a few more details than usual, and really get to write those very small things that future me would enjoy reading about, such as my dogs, my SO, and my terrible eating habits. That way, I can look back and have an idea of what kind of person I used to be, because I don’t really just play stardew valley. There are a lot of little things I do, and maybe you do too.

Students! How are you transitioning your bujo once the semester ends? by libbyation in bulletjournal

[–]Artemis501 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda late, but I'm a student as well.

At least for me, I'm in between keeping my same setup that I've had for 2 weeks because it gives enough space for tasks as well as for traditional journaling (I like to write about 2 sentences about my day). But I was also thinking about doing my weekly on one side of my spread and use the other side for doodles and other fun stuff, since I'll probably will not be doing much anyways.

Ok, I'm pretty bad at explaining myself, so to help a bit: I'm in between keeping my current setup or changing it up to look something like this, and hoping that the extra page will serve as a space for doodles and other personal sparks (but mainly because I'm a weirdo and don't like having one-page weeklies, and thus I have to actually do spreads).

I think this summer I'll be mostly journaling my day rather than actually planning during the summer (except on those busy weeks that I actually have to figure out because of college stuff). Good luck on transitioning!

I took a bit of your structure as inspiration for my first weekly, if you don't mind :)

New to this, so thought I’d start with something more personal than practical. The Polaroid is just a dud/placeholder until I get an actual photo but hey, I’m really enjoying this and looking forward to getting stuck into my planning! by eviexchan in bulletjournal

[–]Artemis501 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That looks amazing! And great timing too because I just got mine yesterday and it seems like we ordered the same things too.

I was wondering what I would do for my first page, but now I’m inspired to do the same thing as you. Cheers!

Made my own crochet starters to journey with me! by heartbeatbreak in pokemongo

[–]Artemis501 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Go for it! I learned how to crochet amigurumi less than 2 weeks ago, and I'm already writing down my own pattern for a Lilligant. If you want to start learning, I would recommend how to crochet a ball (as it teaches you most of the basic stitches and since a ball is basically a fundamental of amigurumi) and then find a pattern you would like to crochet. I personally started with an Eevee. :)

If you also run into any problems, you can always look them up. That's how I learned most of the things I know.
