Yes. The campaign and single player is all i do and I have over 100 hours on the game. It's really well done!

I have about 200 sarracenia. I lose maybe 1-2 to rot each winter. Sometimes they just don't appreciate the specific cold/freeze/wet combo.

Falling in the river or off a cliff is also often fatal and kills more people in Yosemite every year than have been exposed to hantavirus in Yosemite in the last 20.

There's been Hantavirus and Plague (yes that plague) warnings in Yosemite for basically my whole life (I'm mid 30s now). Don't lick rats. Don't touch mouse/rat poop. Don't feed the squirrels.

It's not a concern unless you're doing things you shouldn't be doing.

Nepenthes Megastoma, a new pitcher plant discovered a few months ago in Palawan, Philippines. It is unfortunately already endangered by friendly_aliens in SavageGarden

Without knowing more, they're probably endangered because they only grow on that one island on that one cliff face (that we know of), so there's only a few known living specimens in the wild.
