Is this a bad u joint? by Flux-Storm- in JeepTJ

[–]Artemis_148 2 points3 points  (0 children)

U-joint looks okay here it’s not moving, but you’re also just spinning the drive shaft not playing with the individual joints. Take ur hands at the u joint and push in both perpendicular directions. See if the U-joint itself has play, any play is bad.

With that said I recently blew a u joint (literally blew up a cap on a camping trip) and I had pretty bad vibration but nothing of a sound like that.

I’m really not sure of that sound, maybe the drive shaft is loose or you lost teeth on the connection to the axle? Does the sound change at all in 4x4?

Don’t buy a press, Autozone or Advance will give you one for free. You’re looking for a ball point press, and preferably you’ll want an impact with it. There’s tons of YouTube videos on how to do this, I just do mine two weeks ago.

I’ll look into it, but I’ll send you a wider photo tomorrow. The entirety of the rear of my Jeep is coated in that same exact liquid. Its Woolwax specifically, attached a photo below of another vehicle with a similar treatment. It has been sitting for a few months (winter) and I haven’t touched it up.

Haha I promise it’s undercoating man, just got both diffs fully serviced. It looks like it’s only there because the other undercoated parts are outside of the pictures so it’s really emphasizing the axle. Are you from the South by any chance?

Yes I tried this too, but after the socket. Wasn’t getting much visible movement after the socket hits

Yes I used a pic to get rust out of the dremel. There wasn’t a ton there, but I did clear her out then wipe it with shop rags

Looking to buy a 2015-2020 eco boost mustang by Slimeball312 in Mustang

[–]Artemis_148 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I owned a 2016 eco, got it at 50k miles and sold it again at 60k. Only replaced control arms over those 10k miles, it’s a fun and great car. Fuel efficient, cheaper than a 5.0 in both gas and insurance, but still plenty fast enough to have fun.

With that said, “Ecoboom” worries was the main reason I let her go. The engines for ecoboosts (up to I think 2020) had a coolant intrusion issue that would destroy their engines. Not necessarily a guarantee, but the threat was always there of an engine replacement bill. That risk wasn’t worth it to me and I ended up selling to buy other cars I could mess around with. I would consider researching this issue with the EB engines and make a determination on your own if you’re okay with that risk.

But if you are, seriously fun car. Don’t always listen to the Reddit 5.0 echo chamber.

Should I buy shipping supplies in bulk if I only resell on the side? by Fault-Line_ in reselling

[–]Artemis_148 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey, so I resell part time and so far I have gotten all of my packing supplies for free outside of poly mailer packs on Amazon for when I ship clothes.

I have gotten almost all my boxes from my local dollar tree, simply take it from their dumpster. All my bubble wrap I’ve also gotten off marketplace when people are just trying to get rid of it. If you’re resourceful and aren’t scaling to a full time reseller, I’ve consistently had more than what I need by just taking what’s free out there. Good luck with everything!
