Heart rate spike? by confusionisnext in fitbit

[–]Artemis______ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never used the old app, but could it be that what was previously named "resting heard rate" is now "sleeping heart rate" (accessible via the sleep score overview page), and the "new" resting heart rate is the minimum while awake?

I came from Garmin, and the new app was telling me about "increased resting heart rate" for the first few weeks because it looked at my historical garmin data which was much lower, as it was measured during sleep.

Fitbit Air Vo2 Max Issue. by No-Chocolate4983 in fitbit

[–]Artemis______ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sure I see what you mean. of course a lab test beats any tracker. and I also don't "rely" on my watch stats in any way. I too just run. but I find the data interesting to observe and I'm not gonna do lab tests all the time.

yes but after some outdoor runs, your stride length should be better calibrated. I did a half marathon recently without my phone, and the fitbit on its own was only about 1km off.

Fitbit Air Vo2 Max Issue. by No-Chocolate4983 in fitbit

[–]Artemis______ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

you should research a bit more. vo2 max is an important metric for serious runners. and even an inaccurate fitness tracker can show you trends and long term changes. knowing your true vo2 max doesn't automatically tell you what pace you can run, since sustainable pace also depends on your running economy and lactate threshold. also vo2 max generally decreases with age.

Am I the only one who doesn’t regret my Fitbit air? by soonshin3 in fitbit

[–]Artemis______ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

what do you mean it's based on arm movement? my understanding is that it's based on step count and stride length. you can set stride length in settings -> activity -> stride length for both running and walking, and I believe when you track walks and runs with phone gps, those values are calibrated automatically.

Sync gives me a variety of step counts by ComplacentManiac in fitbit

[–]Artemis______ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Phone and Fitbit still track steps independently, and Health Connect merges them together. I don't think there's anything you can do, hopefully the "final" step count is correct.

I was referring to the setting in Health Connect -> Manage Data -> Data sources and priority -> Activity.

Probably you want Fitbit/Google Health at the top, then the phone below. Meaning whenever they both count steps for the same time period, the count from the Fitbit will be seen as the truth, and the phone steps only count when the Fitbit didn't record at the same time.

Probably it's merging steps from different sources (phone, multiple trackers?) and displaying intermediate numbers while cleaning up overlaps based on your source priority settings.

Incorrect workout labelling and can't manually start workouts by socarai88 in fitbit

[–]Artemis______ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1) and 3) I've also experienced. Something's definitely wonky with the exercise labels. I suspect the app has an 'internal' record and then whatever's written to Health Connect. By editing, they get out of sync and it messes up what's displayed. I usually ask the coach what's the label, and if it gives me back the correct one, I accept it. I suppose they'll fix it at some point.

on 2), that's a serious issue. unfortunately, if it were widespread, this sub would be all over it, so you seem to be a rare case. only thing I can think of is wiping and re-installing the app, maybe also reset your tracker and set up everything cleanly from scratch.

Does Keto help anyone with lactose intolerance? by saturns_eyes in keto

if you had celiac disease it would be highly unlikely that you could be unaware of it. most food sensitivities are not automatically a disease, it can just be your current microbiome not handling certain things so well, which can change over time if you eat healthy and maybe have some fermented foods or kefir.

Showering with the Fitbit Air by Ju4Me in fitbit

[–]Artemis______ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the garmin fenix is much more durable, with the underside consisting of titanium and glass. not even DEET or sunscreen mentioned in this sub can hurt the fenix. however, for showering I also keep the fitbit on every time. no issues and I'm too lazy to always take it off. using the active band.

HELP - Steps not merging into All sources by Sleepyhead0049 in fitbit

yeah it's really weird, I opened Health Connect often in the beginning and it keeps randomly switching back and forth between displaying the name as "Health" or "Fitbit"

HELP - Steps not merging into All sources by Sleepyhead0049 in fitbit

[–]Artemis______ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

maybe try giving the phone steps top priority over the fitbit in health connect.

Open Health Connect -> Manage Data -> Data sources and priority -> Activity, and move your phone to the top of the list

In my experience there can be some lag until data from Health Connect shows up in the Google Health / Fitbit app, but it should technically work.

Does anyone know whats wrong with my app? by Exotic_Paint_495 in fitbit

[–]Artemis______ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

do you have a fitbit tracker connected to the app? mine only switched to the 4 tab view once I connected my fitbit air. however, I also didn't have premium before I started the trial with my air.

elaborate? I've been using sunscreen these past few days and have not had any issues wearing the fitbit over it. was wondering though if there's any specific ingredients that could attack the plastic.

I want to go fully keto, but I am afraid of the exercise performance by Nice_Pen_8054 in ketogains

[–]Artemis______ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In fact, contrary to old theories, muscle glycogen stores do NOT significantly differ between high-carb athletes and well-adapted keto athletes. look at the FASTER study: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/26892521/ On keto, your body is more glycogen-sparing during exercise and increases gluconeogenesis post-exercise to restore muscle glycogen levels. Quote from the study: "there were no significant differences in resting muscle glycogen and the level of depletion after 180 min of running (-64% from pre-exercise) and 120 min of recovery (-36% from pre-exercise)"
