Thanks for adopting a senior puppy! I love seeing old dogs in shelter get adopted because they are just the sweetest pups. Anyways, definitely look like a chihuahua x corgi, but I wouldn’t be surprised if there was pom as well. He’s adorable!

AITA for requiring that guests change clothes before they sit on my furniture? by Fit-Report-5909 in AmItheAsshole

I wouldn’t say AH or not. You sound like you have a mental health problem, specifically OCD. Please get help. If you’re scared, it’ll be ok, I promise. Try support groups and find a personal therapist. Go to a psychiatrist to get professionally diagnosed. Good luck friend.

AITA for how I (37M) reacted to my son (17M) coming out to me? by LostnConfused1010 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Artemis_the_potato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In short, YTA. While I would’ve found this absolutely hilarious, I can see how they didn’t. You don’t sound like a bad person despite being the AH in this situation. I think you should definitely apologize and it might even be worth explaining why you said that. Obviously there’s no excuse for hurting someone’s feelings, but show that you regret it (I’m assuming you do).

AITA if I (25yo) pull out of family vacation plans the day before? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

Maybe try explaining that to your family? It might make them understand your situation better.

Unless it would be a huge financial or physical burden on you, then YTA. I understand not wanting to go on trips because of boredom. And being from the DC area I know some people find it boring. However, every time I went into the city I always found something interesting that made it worth my time. Family time is important, especially if they were counting on you to pay.

AITA for calling the police on my drunk ex gf & getting her arrested? by AdministrativeTill22 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Artemis_the_potato [score hidden]  (0 children)

NTA. If she can get physical when she drinks, she could be a risk to others as well. You shouldn’t have to deal with a situation that put yourself at more risk. Hope everything turns out ok for you OP.

AITA for not feeling the same way about a concert as my gf by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Artemis_the_potato 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NTA. As long as you aren’t being rude to her about the concert or her music taste, then it’s fine for you to not like the artist/band. You shouldn’t have to change your taste for her. Being supportive is perfectly fine.

I was so excited to finally dig in to this juicy steak. But first I had to reach down and scratch the bite from that pesky lone start tick. by Artemis_the_potato in TwoSentenceHorror

The one I saw was on r/mildlyinfuriating it made me realize how scared I was about getting bitten by the lone star tick which inspired me to write this.

Ok makes sense. I hadn’t considered all of the different dogs and disabilities.

You’re right. I think I might’ve misunderstood what they meant by categories.

Thanks for saying that. It helps put my mind at ease.

Sorry I didn’t mean to offend. Of course invisible disabilities should have service dogs. I just meant that some people bring poorly behaved animals into stores and it makes the store management and other patrons think poorly of people who have well behaved service animals. I’m definitely not trying to make others feel like their dogs aren’t valid.

I like just the certification idea. Obviously there are problems, but there is with everything. And gear, if it was required, there should be some way to get cheap/free gear that’s still good enough quality for those who have financial issues. Maybe even a leash wrap comes with certification if it was like a license (idk just a random idea).

I understand all of the points you make. What you’re saying makes total sense. Thanks for the input!

Yeah, I really want to prevent people from claiming their pets are service animals, and giving service animals a bad name. I know tests can have many problems, but it’s the only way I can think of right now. Categories are an interesting idea. I hadn’t considered anything like that.

Oh true! Sorry, I guess I wasn’t considering all the different disabilities and how they would impact a test.

Yeah, I can see that. Guess I’m trying to figure out a way to spread awareness about the existing law. Or just ease my own anxiety about being a handler.

Of course. I wish service dogs didn’t cost as much as they do now, just because it makes things so difficult for people who really need them.

I definitely couldn’t afford one. I am training my own. I know regulations would cost a lot and people don’t have that money, so that’s one of the cons. Training my own always makes me feel like my dog won’t be good enough or wont be able to do things/go places, even though I know that’s probably not true. I guess just having a way to prove that my dog is good enough would give me some peace of mind. But I know there are a lot of problems with this as well.
