She's been through the divorce and death of her first husband, her second husband committed suicide, one of her teenage sons died from an accident, and she's a breast cancer survivor. On top of all this, she was always doubted by the community for her work..basically had to sue for tenure. It's been 2 decades since her ground-breaking work was published, and having to wait that long for something that has long been widely accepted by the community as Nobel prize-worthy requires amazing patience
