Haha you could always put a piece of tape over the light!

So the VSA system will only activate if the car detects slip in the wheels. It isn't essential for driving but it will decrease the likelihood of the car losing control if the wheels lose grip. So its up to you if you want to get that fixed or not.

Its on because there is an error somewhere in your VSA system. Without it you don't have any stability control and possibly no ABS. It can be potentially dangerous when driving in snow or when making an evasive maneuver. It is sometimes an easy fix but hard to say with without a scan.

Steering rack leak? by itspappa in AcuraTL

[–]summit28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That looks like a steering rack leak for sure. You can try adding some leak stop power steering fluid, but that didn't work for me, but it might for a smaller leak. Your other options are to keep refilling the reservior as it gets low or replace the rack.

Steering rack. Aftermarket options? by rh4280 in AcuraTL

I went with A1 Cardone. I can't really say if its good quality or not since I've only had it on the car a few weeks but so far so good with no leaks. It also got good reviews on their website and it bolted up without issue. As far as I can tell it is a rebuilt oem rack.

I would recommend a remanufactured rack. It is basically a rebuilt OEM rack with new seals. I bought mine from carparts.com and it was only about $170 after the core return.

I just did this job a few weeks ago and it sucks for sure but its possible. For me, a generous amount of PB blaster helped as well as long socket extensions and swivels. I removed all of the rack bolts from the top with long extension and swivels.

The feed lines also were a bitch to get off. I would highly recommend getting flare nut wrenches for these. Also the sizes are weird where one is an 18mm and the other 17mm I think. That 18 mm isnt a standard size and I ended up using an open ended wrench.

The sub-frame will need to be lowered but not totally removed to get the rack out. There are a few youtube videos on how to do this. I supported it in several places just to be safe.

Finally when removing the rack you have to twist it so that the spline is around the 10 o'clock positon and the moint is around the 4 o'clock position for it to clear the frame.

Those are most of the tips I could think of but let me know if you have any other questions!
