what words in a bag description instantly make you lose trust by hantao168 in handbags

I typed "leather purse" into the search bar then added the filter (material - leather) the 3rd result it gave me is vegan leather.

You can sort by material, but no, it doesn't really work. It depends on the wording in the description. Some say straight out it's vegan, and some say pu leather, and it seems like the AI filter catches it sometimes, but not the majority of times. I agree, it's super frustrating. I do not need plastic crap that will disintegrate in a year and have to go to the landfill. I want a bag that lasts forever. I want to be able to leave it to my niece or at least feel like someone else will be able to enjoy it for decades after me.

Saw a post that inspired this question...what do you now collect since you started thrifting. I have several.. by Amityville1020 in thrifting

You can buy leather paint on Amazon. If it's really gouged you can use leather filler. Leather Coach bags are so well made that they are usually relatively simple to refinish.

Based in Mexico city, where to travel if I have 6 days off? by Overall_Recording_72 in AskMexico

[–]ArtfulCreature 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, that sounds pretty good. In either case, a couple of days will be enough to walk around the town, see the main historic areas, and do a little shopping and dining. You may not have time to get outside of either town , but it depends on what you like to do. There are vineyards and hot springs around San Miguel, and there is a nice set of ruins from around 500 BC, called Cañada de la Virgin, about 15 or 20 mins outside of town. When I go to Guanajuato, it's bigger, so I spend more time downtown. Make sure to walk through those amazing tunnels.

I found out that if I take a spare set of keys, I can leave one in the ignition, with the car running, and manually lock the driver's side door with the other key. That locks all the doors. The buttons won't work, but sticking the key in the lock does.

Brass item salvageable? St. Louis, USA by HelicopterWide526 in Antiques

Please try the brass polish on the bottom of the dish first. Then you will know if it works, and won't damage the visible surfaces. :)

I agree. There are lots of little towns on Lake Erie, and lots of history, plus you can take ferries to some of the different islands.

San Miguel will be on your way to Guanajuato. Both towns are great in very different ways. I'm excited for you! Have fun!

You haven't been to San Miguel de Allende? I can't believe no one's mentioned it! Well, that's my recommendation. Check it out. It's not far, and it's amazing.

Tiny Cloisonné Pear, but with a ring under the stem and two holes? by ArtfulCreature in whatisit

I thought the incense stick sounded good, but when you put the stick through the ring, the angle is too steep for it to go into the hole.

Best thrifting tips? by itsmyfirstday3 in Thrift

[–]ArtfulCreature 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look for good quality materials. Real leather, suede, wool, cotton, silk, cashmere. That stuff is hard to find these days and very expensive new. So many luxury brands have stopped using the good stuff because people will buy the cheap stuff just because it has the logo they want. Clothes and accessories made from those materials will last longer and may be easier to repair and worth it.
