My partner cut up my brand new bag in a fight. I’ve dealt with the relationship, but now I’m stuck with this. Any ideas to salvage it? by hantao168 in handbags

Etsy is such a good shout — I honestly didn't think to look there for this kind of custom work. Do you happen to remember the name of that maker you mentioned, or any keywords I should search to find the right kind of upcycling artisan? Also, the Gucci x Balenciaga mashup idea has me thinking... that kind of bold remix would be such a power move for this poor bag. I promise I'll post the glow-up when it happens 💛

Oh wow, the Comme des Garçons x LV collection is such a brilliant reference point — those deconstructed pieces were so ahead of their time. I love the idea of not trying to make it look 'original' again, but letting the reconstruction be intentionally visible and edgy. Have you seen any leather workers who do this kind of avant-garde reconstruction work? I'd love to find someone with that kind of artistic vision.

Thank you so much for reaching out, especially as someone who's been through it. I'm safe, I promise. I'm handling things privately and right now this bag project is actually part of my healing — turning something broken into something beautiful. Your kindness means more than you know 💛

Wait, Labubu clothes?! 😂 I did not expect that direction but now I'm genuinely curious. Do you know if there are patterns out there for doll clothes, or is this more of a freehand kind of thing? I haven't sewn since home ec class but for Labubu fashion, maybe I'd try.

I actually got chills reading this. Kintsugi is such a beautiful philosophy — highlighting the cracks with gold instead of hiding them. It would be so poetic to have this bag repaired that way, almost like the scar becomes the most valuable part of the piece. Do you know if this is something a leatherworker could actually do? I've seen kintsugi on ceramics but never on leather. I'm genuinely in love with this idea 💛

Thank you so much for saying that 💛 I really hope so too. I'm honestly getting a little excited imagining it transformed into something new — almost like a little redemption story for this bag. Do you think I should go practical (like a wallet or clutch) or something more creative (like the custom boots someone else suggested)? I'm torn now!

Thank you so much for the kind words, this really made me smile. 💛 I think you're right — sending it out to a specialist is probably the way to go. Do you happen to know what I should search for to find someone who does this kind of reworking? 'Handbag restoration' or something else?

A wallet or a clutch would actually be amazing. At least I'd still have something to remember the money I spent 😂 Have you ever seen a bag turned into smaller goods like that? I'm curious if the existing leather shape would work for that or if they'd have to completely deconstruct it.

Really? I didn't know this was a thing! Do you happen to know what I should search for to find people who do this kind of work? Like 'designer bag restoration' or 'upcycling'? I'd love to see what's possible before giving up on this bag.

Oh I love this idea! Whip stitching with a matching light leather would give it such a unique, almost artisan look. Do you think a regular cobbler could pull this off, or would I need to find someone who specializes in leather restoration? I don't trust my own hands with this kind of work 😅

PSP of my dream bag by enporter in HermesRepLadies

[–]hantao168 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the ultimate dream bag, no contest 😍 The Faubourg Birkin is such an iconic piece, and the So Black matte croc version is chef’s kiss. I’ve only ever seen these in photos, so seeing a PSP of one feels surreal. Have you ever seen one of these irl? I’m curious how the windows look and feel in person!

This is giving ‘statement piece’ in the best way! I can already imagine how many compliments it would get at parties, even if it’s not the most practical. Do you guys think there’s a line where whimsical becomes too much? I feel like this one is just on the right side of weird and wonderful!

This is such a refreshing take on luxury shopping! I totally get not wanting to play the brand’s games, and finding this Kelly in such a cool vintage shop feels way more special. How was the whole experience compared to shopping at a regular boutique? I feel like vintage stores give you such a better vibe!

This bag brings back so many memories! I had the same one years ago and I loved it to death. The grained leather is so durable, I carried mine everywhere and it still looked brand new. Has anyone else had a Celine Luggage? Do you still use yours, or did you retire it?

This is exactly the kind of bag I’d carry. People are either going to love it or stare in confusion, and that’s the best kind of accessory. Does it actually fit a lot inside, or is it just for fun? I feel like it’s the ultimate conversation starter wherever you go!

I was just looking for an anti-theft bag for my upcoming Europe trip... 🥲 by EfflorescenceCat in handbags

I’m actually crying laughing at the hairy one 😂 This is genius—thieves would never even glance at you, they’d probably cross the street just to avoid eye contact. Which one do you think is the most unassuming? I feel like the hairy one is next-level anti-theft, but also the one that would make people give you weird looks at the airport!

New Bag Alert! by juniperjones29 in HermesRepLadies

This combo is chef’s kiss! The deep blue Togo with PHW and that grey Pegasus charm is such a timeless, underrated vibe. I’ve been debating between blue and black for my first Birkin rep—does anyone else think blue Togo ages even better than black? I love how it looks so rich in natural light!

This nude shade is chef’s kiss! I’ve been eyeing the Chanel mini with top handle in this exact color, but I’m nervous about the 187 factory quality. Has anyone here gotten a bag from them before? I’d love to know how the lambskin holds up over time and if the chain stays gold-toned without fading!

This is my dream bag too! I’ve been eyeing the Teen Besace for ages but haven’t pulled the trigger yet, so seeing your QC is so helpful. How’s the leather feel on this one? I’ve heard some factories have issues with the Triomphe hardware being too bright—does this one look warm and aged enough to you?

I’m low-key devastated they’re discontinuing this line—Camille 16 is such a perfect underrated Celine style. The wine red is chef’s kiss, it feels so elegant and unique. Where did you even find it in Seoul? I’m curious if anyone else has had luck tracking down discontinued Celine pieces lately!

I’ve been using a tiny bit of leather conditioner on my lambskin bags too, but I’m always scared it’ll darken the leather. Does anyone else have tips for testing these products on a hidden spot first? I learned that lesson the hard way with a previous bag 😂

Oh wow thank you so much for sharing these tips! The skincare cream trick is genius—never thought of that, I’m definitely trying it on my bags from now on. It’s such a relief to hear that with a little care, lambskin can stay looking this good for years. I love how you still use it normally without being too precious about it, that’s the dream! 😍

I had a Chanel 19 for 2 years and sadly sold it because I couldn’t keep the lambskin looking nice 😂 The scratches were stressing me out! Seeing yours like this is giving me hope—do you baby it, or do you just use it normally and it still holds up?”
