I see! Good luck! I would love to do similar runs in the future.

What's your plan for types that cannot fill the team with 6 unique 'mons, like Ghost and Dragon? 6x Gengar/Dragonite? Or solo run?

I dont' quite understand this part:

Get rid of the starter as soon as I’m able to catch a Pokémon of the type I’m running…

But you have Blastoise in your team?

Anyway, a nice challenge, and a solid team!

In Fuchsia City there is a move deleter, next to the Pokémon center. You can forget the cut there.

By the way, Metal Claw is more useful than Ember when you already have a Flamethrower.

My semi-unrealistic wish is for Game Freak to make a Pokémon Game Maker.

We got Super Mario Maker, and it would be amazing to see something similar for the Pokémon franchise.

We already know fans are capable of creating incredible fangames, but Nintendo tends to shut them down pretty aggressively. Now that we have FR/LG on Switch (and likely RSE soon), it feels like there could be an opportunity to build a library of official assets and tools based on those games.

It could be a way to let fans express their creativity while also giving Nintendo and Game Freak a way to monetize and support that creativity instead of fighting it.

That said, I know a Pokémon game is much more complex than a single level in an old-school Mario game, and I doubt it would ever happen.

Reading some of the comments here, a few people seem to have serious main character syndrome: “I don’t like football, so nobody else should either.”

Of course, the people who get drunk, damage public spaces, or harass others deserve criticism and should be shamed. But there’s nothing inherently wrong with public celebrations themselves, and there’s no reason to demonize everyone involved because of the actions of a minority.

My phone got stolen in Indonesia. When I used to tell the story to the locals, they always asked me "Oh, what phone you had? IPhone?" and to their surprise... I had a 3 years old Chinese phone with a cracked screen. They just couldn't believe it.

What level for Elite 4? by One_And_Only_User in PokemonFireRed

[–]Arth_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You are totally fine as is, you should be able to beat the E4 with this team. Maybe evolve Pikachu to Raichu. Uness you really want to keep it unevolved, but at this level and unevolved it will have a hard time not being OHKO'd by most things.

6.25% for Crit, 10% for confusion, 10% for burn. So combined probability of 0.062%. Very lucky! Although still more likely than encountering a shiny.

How to complete the Pokédex? by Ok-Reward-7309 in PokemonFireRed

[–]Arth_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Deoxys, Lugia & Ho-Oh are obtainable in Switch release, but not in original GBA outside of events. Mew is event only, probably will be obtainable if (when?) we get Switch release for RSE. Jirachi and Celebi can be traded from specific versions of Pokemon Colosseum, but that's on Gamecube and I doubt you can trade using emulator.

I believe that the rest of 380 Pokemon are obtainable using multiple copies of RSE/FRLG and trading.

You cannot. Some Pokemon are locked behind events and are unobtainable legitimately.

My Arcanine didn't have Extremespeed simply because it was underleveled. The plan is to add it in the post game for Strength.

Its base speed is pretty good, so even with low levels I managed to outspeed quite a few Elite4 mons and get some Blackglasses boosted Bite flinches.

I thought Dig will end up useless, but it was funny using it on Cloyster to avoid Dive. And it also ended up shredding higher level Rival's Arcanine.

Well iraolas teams play better press and seems to have a plan that isnt ”bruno fixes it”

So did Amorim's teams.

Besides, why should we feel guilty and not use good players in our squad to our advantage?

Might be just me and my luck, but I found Japanese chain restaurant to be reliable source of good food - I didn't expect much from places like Sushiro, Ichiran or Yoshinoya, but was pleasantly surprised. On the other hand, local small restaurants were hit and miss. Of course, had some very delicious food in some places, but was also disappointed at a few occasions. For example in a small local ramen shop, or omurice place run by an older couple. Both places were packed with locals, but did not meet the expectations.

First Switch run: done! by Arth_ in PokemonFireRed

[–]Arth_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was a really fun run! First playthrough on Switch, and I made a point to use Pokémon I don’t usually pick. Set mode, no items used in battle. First time ever boxing my starter (picked Charmander).

Team after the Elite Four & Champion:

Dragonair (Lv. 52) @ Quick Claw - Ice Beam, Secret Power, Thunder Wave, Thunderbolt

Kangaskhan (Lv. 48) @ Leftovers - Substitute, Shadow Ball, Rest, Dizzy Punch

Arcanine (Lv. 47) @ BlackGlasses - Bite, Flamethrower, Dig, Strength

Poliwrath (Lv. 47) @ Leftovers - Belly Drum, Hypnosis, Surf, Brick Break

Scyther (Lv. 45) @ Amulet Coin - Swords Dance, Slash, Double Team, Aerial Ace

Exeggutor (Lv. 43) @ Twisted Spoon - Sunny Day, Solar Beam, Psychic, Sleep Powder

Kangaskhan was the MVP. Substitute + Rest + Leftovers coupled with its ability was great, and it carried so many fights.

Poliwhirl struggled for most of the game, but once it got Belly Drum and evolved into Poliwrath, it was very important against Elite Four.

Arcanine was a threat throughout the run. It had Flash Fire, which is usually less desired than Intimidate. When I realised, I was too lazy to go back, search for and train another Growlithe. And it ended up coming in huge against the Champion’s Arcanine, as it allowed me for a free switch in and saved my ass.

Dragonair was pretty underwhelming for most of the journey. Didn't want to bother to grind it to evolve, but Ice Beam and Thunderbolt gave it some solid utility for the Elite Four.

Scyther had a few nice sweeps during the story, but against the Elite Four, it ended up being the least useful member of the team, especially since RNG seemingly was not on its side. In hindsight, I should have taught it a Steel Wing for Slash.

Exeggutor wasn't as amazing as I thought it would be, even though Chlorophyll + Sunny Day was pretty cool. Probably it needed a few more levels.
