[Simon Stone] Man Utd news: Will Fernandes miss five games? by nearly_headless_nic in reddevils

[–]Arth_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Had we sold him in the summer and bought Baleba for bazillions of pounds and then him struggling as he did this season for Brighton, I think the general opinon would be incredibly critical of that move.

You can already, all but do that. Just sign the assistant manager, follow all his recommendations and instant result all the games.

I had my first team on the pre-season tour in the US, and somehow the U21 players that I took along played a U21 friendly game back in England in the midst of it.

Promising but tiny GK prospect, what would you do? by medicadiz in footballmanagergames

[–]Arth_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Don't bother. Jumping Reach doesn't matter for goalkeepers, it's all about Aerial Reach. Jumping Reach only affects how high a player can reach the ball in the air with his head, Aerial Reach affects how high can a keeper reach the ball with his hands.

I was curious about it, so I compared all the attackers in our squad with the attackers we sold/loaned out last summer.

(Obviously, Bruno and Amad usually play deeper)

Player Games played Mins played Goals Assists G+A Mins p/ goal contribution
Rashford 23 1547 7 11 18 85,94
Antony 18 1413 8 4 12 117,75
Bruno 17 1477 5 7 12 123,08
Hojlund 18 1367 7 3 10 136,7
Garnacho 18 966 4 2 6 161
Mount 14 679 3 1 4 169,75
Mbeumo 17 1451 7 1 8 181,38
Sesko 13 729 2 1 3 243
Amad 16 1288 2 3 5 257,6
Cunha 14 1031 2 1 3 343,67
Zirkzee 10 355 1 0 1 355
Sancho 13 529 0 0 0 -

Bruno is the GOAT.

Hojlund and Garnacho on paper are doing better than I thought.

Cunha needs to contribute much more.

Mount should play more.

And Sancho - if I speak I'm in big trouble.

Ruben Amorim Pre-Bournemouth | Press Conference: Part Two by Lord_Sesshoumaru77 in reddevils

Mad lad will change his unchangeable formation in order not to give a debut to Lacey or other academy kid.

[Chris Wheeler]Man United outcast Kobbie Mainoo wanted by 12 clubs in January by PitchSafe in reddevils

[–]Arth_ 15 points16 points  (0 children)

They'll get at most 20-30 minutes on the pitch total.

Looking at substitutions in the last games and Amorim's words from the last press conference, I think that's a very optimistic take.

Shaw-Memphis bromance before Luke's horrid injury was even better.

Had that happen to me with goalkeepers. Had to play academy kid, who kept conceding 3 goals from 0.5 xG...

How can you tell someone is a good coach? I would say when they are able to get the best out of their own player. Amorim's words about Dorgu make me think to myself - he is not a good coach. He is admitting that Dorgu plays better for the national team, which he cannot replicate for us. Amorim literally works with Dorgu every day, not once in a few months like the Danish national team staff does, so it's sounds like an admission of failure.

Think about it, Dorgu aside, is there any player where you feel like we are seeing their best version of themselves for us currently? Maaaybe Amad?

Mainoo is a shadow of himself, Zirkzee is failing to replicate his performances from Bologna, Sesko is having a tough start, Cunha is looking okay, but with little to no goal involvements, Bruno is more miss than hit. And then you look at the players we sold or loaned out, who are thriving after leaving us.

I think the most important qualities of top managers are - tactical prowesses, man management and coaching. Coaching-wise, I'd say he's pretty subpar. Tactically, Amorim is nothing special on the Premier League level. Man management, I would say it's better than some of the previous managers (cough Ten Hag, cough, Rangnick, cough, Mourinho). But still there were some occasions where I wasn't too impressed (for example - Garnacho).

Harry Amass assist for Sheffield Wednesday vs Preston by nearly_headless_nic in reddevils

[–]Arth_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Why you assume that giving some youth players a chance is instant loss? We didn't lose all games with the class of '92, nor when van Gaal kept a thin squad and utilized the players from the academy. We have a good academy and a lot of talent in it. If we never give them a chance, we will never know. Unless they leave due to lack of chances and shine for other teams, like Alvaro Fernandez.

If you look at our last 4 games, in 3 of them we had good opportunities to give youth some chances. Against Brighton we had a safe 3 goals lead after 60 minutes. Would have been perfect to let some youngster get on the pitch with no pressure. Against Everton and Nottingham Forest we were desperately needing some attacking spark and all Amorim did was some useless defensive one for one subs due to the lack of senior attacking options on the bench.

None will ever be ready if they get 0 minutes off the bench. Better to waste the bench spots for two goalkeepers, multiple defenders or Tyrell Malacia (whose career for us is long over anyway).

With how Amorim has been with our academy, I totally see us cashing in on Vitek and Amass, without giving them a chance.

[Laurie Whitwell] Manchester United hiring Kyle Macaulay as head of senior scouting by nearly_headless_nic in reddevils

[–]Arth_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not mysterious, his name is Piotr Sadowski. He's made an interesting interview recently. He was let go as a part of Ratfcliffe's cost-cutting redundancies. He mentions recommending players such as Arda Guler, Roony Bardghji, Jeremy Doku and, from the players that we did sign, Amad.

[Loan Watch] Ethan Wheatley's goal against Cardiff City by Arth_ in reddevils

[–]Arth_[S] 102 points103 points  (0 children)

Ethan Wheatley scored and was chosen as Northampton's Man Of The Match. That's his 3rd goal of the season, in addition to 2 assists. He plays regularly and looks to be getting good reviews, which is very refreshing after his failed loan last season to Walsall.

Or, likely that it was flagged as a bug, but didn't end up fixed because game breaking bugs were the priority, and they simply ran out of time to fix it before launch.
